Chapter 11
Brent searched the entire villa, but apart from that divorce certificate, Adeline had left nothing behind. Even their wedding photos had been cut in half by her.
But he still didn’t understand why she suddenly decided to leave without a word.
Upon careful reflection, Brent finally realized her abnormality, which had started a month ago.
Since the time she called him numerous times, he never answered once.
She remembered the day when she quickly snatched the documents from the drawer and they fell at her feet after she had asked her to sign them.
Suddenly, I realized that it was probably the divorce agreement.
“Don’t you even take a look at the content of the documents? Aren’t you afraid that the documents I give you will ruin you financially?”
Her words were still ringing in his ears, what was he thinking at that time?
He was still a little guilty after all, because during the time he was away, he went to accompany
Mariah.
So, he said, “What’s mine is yours, and once you have a baby in the future, it will be for the two of
you.”
But Brent also knew that Adeline was not that kind of person. At most, she would just ask for some
expensive gifts, but she would never make him go bankrupt.
He guessed right, but he also guessed wrong.
His wealth was considerable, the only thing that was lacking was Adeline.

Adeline never expected that Brent would come over.
People were not allowed to enter the laboratory, so he entered as a sponsor.
When he arrived, she was huddled together with Devon, discussing how to solve the latest problem
they had encountered.
As soon as I looked up after being reminded by the teacher, I saw Brent with a somewhat unpleasant
expression on his face.
Her heart skipped a beat, but then she cursed herself for being weak when she remembered that they no longer had any connection.
“He said he wanted to see you, and I initially didn’t want to agree, but he offered too much. The first

installment alone was fifty million, and it was deposited immediately after signing the contract. He also mentioned that further funding can be provided if needed.”
“Adele, someone spent a fortune just to meet you, otherwise why don’t you have a chat with him?”
The teacher’s persuasion blocked Adeline’s original refusal, and in the end, she reluctantly took off her gloves and walked out of the door, seeing him standing at the entrance and refusing to leave.
When she saw Brent again, she didn’t realize how much he had aged until she came face to face with
him.
His beard was unkempt, and there was an undeniable darkness in his eyes. In just two months, he seemed to have aged ten years.
She stood silently in front of him, not uttering a word, not even willing to say a greeting. Brent’s
gaze, however, fell on Adeline’s flat stomach, breaking the silence first. “You don’t even want our child, and you just want to leave me like this, without giving me a chance?”
Unconsciously, there was a hint of choking in her voice, but when she heard his question, the doubt
in her eyes seemed genuine.
“I thought that divorce would be a win–win situation for both of us.”
Her tone was very calm, so calm that it was as if she was asking where we should go for dinner today, which made him somewhat incredulous. “How could it be all fine and dandy? Adele, I know I neglected you for a while, but I’ll change, I will change. Please don’t leave me, okay?”
Adeline looked at his reddened eye sockets, and a hint of complexity flashed through her heart.
She used to think that Brent loved her, but after three years of marriage, he still couldn’t forget his regret of missing his first love. Even marrying her was only because she bore some resemblance to
Mariah.
So, he would make excuses about work or friends having something come up and escape from his own side time and time again, running off to be with Mariah in Aniston. He even refused to answer calls in order to watch the sunrise with Mariah, and still doesn’t know that she had been in a car
accident and lost a child.
They still thought that she didn’t want their child.
“Brent, do you know? Three months ago, I almost died in a car accident, and we lost our child too.”
Adeline brought up the past again, her heart already calm and peaceful. However, upon hearing her simple words, the listener’s heart was suddenly filled with shock and turmoil.
He approached, wanting to embrace her, but she took a step back and evaded him.
Brent froze for a moment, pain evident in his eyes, as he kept muttering the same sentence, “I

don’t know… Adele, I really don’t know…”
She, however, chuckled and interrupted his soliloquy.
“You certainly didn’t know, that day, I called you many times, but you didn’t answer. What were you doing? You said you were too busy on a business trip to answer my calls, but I knew you were lying.”
“You probably didn’t know, but she added me as a friend in advance. The first post she made was the one I saw when I woke up after coming down from the operating table. She said, ‘You were there with her watching the sunrise.“”
“Brent, do you need me to remind you how many times you stood by her side but didn’t trust me, and how many times you lied to me for her? Do you remember that night when you got drunk? Do you know what I saw when I went to pick you up? I saw you kissing her.”
“Even I know that, at least one should clear their heart before starting the next chapter quickly. Brent, you are thirty years old this year, not thirteen. Why don’t you understand this simple truth?”
She listed his crimes one by one, watching his expression go from shock to panic until finally, only guilt remained.
He was in so much pain that he could barely stand. He wanted to explain, but he realized that he had
no way to explain. Everything Adeline said was true, and it was something he couldn’t change or
deny.
“I was wrong, Adele. I truly know I was wrong. Can you give me another chance, please? I promise
you; I will never leave you alone again…”
