Chapter 16
Briella woke up again to find herself on a soft, sandy beach. Looking around, she saw an endless stretch of deep blue ocean. A lone villa stood by the shore, silent and imposing. In front of the villa, roses were scattered everywhere. Sunlight reflected off the clear glass bricks while balloons and ribbons swayed in the breeze. It was unmistakably the setup for a wedding.”
Sheldon, dressed in an elegant white suit, walked toward her with a gentle smile. “Baby, you’re awake. Let’s continue our wedding.”
He reached out to take her hand. Briella slapped him across the face. “Sheldon, you went through all this trouble to kidnap me. Are you planning to keep me locked up here?”
Sheldon touched his cheek where Briella had hit him, yet his affectionate gaze never wavered. “Baby, there were too many people around you. I couldn’t get close to you and I hated that feeling. Now it’s just us. Once you forgive me, we can leave together, alright?“} Briella gritted her teeth in anger. “You’re crazy!“}
Sheldon chuckled and nodded. “Mm, if being crazy means having you, then so be it. Today is our wedding day, baby. Be happy.” As he spoke, he pulled out a ring. “This is the one you said you liked. I prepared it for you on the night of the awards ceremony, but I never got the chance to give it to you.“}
Briella pushed him away. “Take that disgusting thing somewhere else!“}
Sheldon paused for a second but then firmly slid the ring onto her finger. “Baby, you said you liked it. You can’t take it back now.“>
She struggled, but his strength overpowered hers. He pulled her onto the red carpet, forcing her through the entire wedding ceremony. As night fell over the island, Sheldon carried her back to the bedroom, burying his face in her neck, inhaling deeply as if intoxicated. “Baby, I missed you so much.“>
Briella shuddered in revulsion, but she couldn’t push him away. Sheldon’s lips trailed down to her collarbone, his fingers slowly tracing her skin. She panicked. “Sheldon, what are you doing?“}
He calmly took off his suit jacket and leaned over her. “Baby, it’s our wedding night. What else would we do?“} “No! Stop!” Briella fought him off with all her strength. “Don’t do this, Sheldon. This is rape! Don’t touch me!“} He didn’t give her a chance to escape, speaking softly as if he hadn’t heard her pleas. “Baby, let’s have a child.“}
He knew she was kind. If they had a child, she couldn’t bear to let the baby grow up without a father. By then, he would make her the most renowned artist in the world, fulfilling all her dreams. The thought of their future together sent an uncontrollable thrill through him. He couldn’t wait any longer. He didn’t even fully remove her wedding dress before taking her. That night, Briella, who hadn’t cried in years, wept until her voice was hoarse.
The next morning, she woke to the scent of food. Sheldon carried her downstairs and lifted a spoonful of seafood soup to her lips. “Baby, eat.”
Her eyes were swollen from crying and she glared at him with pure hatred. Sheldon brushed his fingers over her eyelids. “I’ll put some ice on them later. Be good and eat first. You’ll need your strength to deal with me.“}
The memory of last night made her tremble uncontrollably. She slapped the spoon away, spilling the soup all over the floor. “Sheldon, you’re a lunatic!”
