A week later, Sheldon bought out every electronic billboard in the city, flashing messages of “I’m sorry” and “I love you” over and over. At the same time, he spent a fortune at auctions, buying dozens of rare treasures to give to Briella. “These are the same as the ones you burned, Ella. Let’s go back to how we were, okay?“}
Briella coldly rejected him, but Sheldon was relentless. He launched a full–blown pursuit, luxury cars and designer watches one day, private islands and yachts the next. He was like a rabid dog, refusing to give up. Terrified, Briella hired bodyguards to watch over her day and night. Sheldon quickly changed tactics. He bombarded her with calls and texts. The moment Briella blocked one number, he’d switch to another. When Sheldon ran out of apologies, he started repeating one phrase over and over. She hesitated. Briella didn’t love Jared. She wasn’t even thinking about marriage. Sensing her reluctance, Jared added, “It doesn’t have to be real. Just a wedding to make him back off. After that, you’ll still be free.“>
After careful consideration, Briella agreed. Jared was overjoyed and threw himself into wedding preparations. However, on the day Briella tried on her wedding dress, Sheldon stormed into the boutique. The bodyguards held him back, but he fought like a madman, blood streaming down his face, refusing to stop. “Ella, I won’t let you marry him!”
His voice was hoarse, almost desperate. “You’re mine! Now and forever!“}
Briella signaled her bodyguards to let go. She looked Sheldon in the eye. “We broke up. What right do you have to interfere with who I marry?” She tilted her head and sneered. “You’re the CEO of a major company, Sheldon. Why are you making such a spectacle over a breakup?”
Sheldon shook his head violently. “We didn’t break up. I won’t accept it. Ella, for five years, I loved having you by my side. I thought it was just a habit, but I finally realized it was love. I love you. I know I figured it out too late, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of time. Without you, I’m nothing but an empty shell.” His voice broke. “You can’t marry someone else. You just can’t.“@
Any other woman might have been moved, but not Briella. Her heart had long since frozen over. “No matter how pretty your words are, they’re just wishful thinking on your part. We won’t be inviting you to our wedding. Go back to where you belong. I hope I never have to see you again for the rest of my life.” Briella took Jared’s arm and walked with him towards the dressing room.
Sheldon’s chest tightened with unbearable pain. “Ella, I won’t let you marry him. Never!” He watched as she disappeared around the corner. His bloodshot eyes flickered with obsession.
