Chapter 130
Soaked and disheveled, Sheldon’s dark eyes were fixed on her. Seeing that Jared wasn’t around, he smiled. “Briella, I knew you wouldn’t be with another man. You were just trying to make me jealous, weren’t you? Well, it worked. I was ready to kill someone.“>>
In the pouring rain, clinging to the window ledge, his smile was unsettling. Briella shivered. “Sheldon, I’m telling you for the last time, I don’t love you anymore. Let’s move on, for both our sakes.”
A flicker of madness danced in Sheldon’s eyes. “You think you can just turn off your feelings like that? Briella, it’s been five years. I don’t believe you can walk away that easily. We promised to be together forever. You’re just angry right now, you don’t mean it. I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll apologize until you forgive me.“N
Briella felt an overwhelming exhaustion. She had never known Sheldon was capable of this kind of relentless madness. As she stood frozen, he suddenly climbed onto the windowsill, trying to force way in. She panicked. “What the hell are you doing? Get out!”
Sheldon braced himself to jump inside. “It’s so cold out here. I’m soaked. Let me in. I just want to take a shower and hold you while we sleep.”
There was no way Briella would agree. She grabbed a decorative glass brick and hurled it at him. “If you freeze to death, it’s your own fault! Get lost!”
She threw it with all her strength, hitting him hard. Blood streamed down his forehead. Still, Sheldon leaned in closer as if offering himself up for more punishment. “Go ahead, Briella. Hit me. Just don’t kill me, I need to stay alive so we can be together.“}]
Briella recoiled in horror. “You’re disgusting! I wish you would die!“)
The blood loss made him dizzy, his vision blurring. Briella shoved him with both hands. “Get out!”
The rain–slicked window ledge was narrow and treacherous. Sheldon, unprepared for her ferocity, lost his grip and tumbled down. The three–story fall wouldn’t kill him, but his heart was shattered. He screamed in agony, “Briella, do you really want me dead? How can you be so cruel?” The only response was the click of the window latch as Briella slammed it shut.
To prevent another such incident, Briella installed steel window bars the very next day. For days, Sheldon didn’t appear. She assumed he’d finally given up. She could understand. He was a proud man and coming all this way to beg for forgiveness was already out of character. After such a humiliating rejection, his pride must be shattered. He probably returned home to marry Celia, but Briella underestimated Sheldon’s obsession.
