Compared to the man I used to know, Vincent looked completely wrecked.
He’d lost weight, his eyes dull and lifeless, his whole presence clouded with exhaustion and gloom.
But the second he saw me, there was a sudden spark of light in his eyes.
Then, just as quickly, his gaze narrowed in frustration. “Andrea. You’re really making me chase you down, huh?“>
–
I thought seeing him again would stir something heartbreak, hatred.§
But standing face to face, I felt… nothing.”
I stared at him, expressionless. “What do you want, Mr. Blackthorne?”
–
The way I addressed him – cold, formal I made irritation flicker across his face.
He frowned. “How long are you going to keep this up?“}
I almost laughed.
After everything, he still thought I was just throwing a tantrum?}
Vincent, as always, had his own narrative. “You’re only hanging around my enemy to spite me, aren’t you?“>
I sighed. “I’d suggest you to get a therapy. No one needs your crazy here.”
He wasn’t used to seeing me this cold. The more I shut him down, the angrier he got.”
“Andrea, my patience has limits. Don’t push me. I know I’ve wronged you in the past. I’ll apologize. But that doesn’t give you the right to act like this.“>
I let out a bitter laugh. “When exactly did you ever give me the freedom to ‘act like this,’ Mr. Blackthorne?“}
Vincent was momentarily speechless, his brows furrowing tight in frustration.}
I held his gaze. “No amount of apologies will fix the past. But that doesn’t matter. We’re divorced. Please, stop showing up in my life.”}
With that, I stepped around him, ready to leave.
But he grabbed my wrist tightly, his voice low and cold. “No, you begged to marry me. And since I never gave you permission to leave, you
can’t leave!“}
His grip was strong. I couldn’t break free. “Let go of me!“}
Vincent ignored me and started pulling me toward his car. “I’ll pretend none of this ever
I yanked my head down and bit into his wrist hard.
He cried out, loosening his grip and I immediately stepped back.
“I told you–we’re divorced!”
happened.”
Hearing that word seemed to send him into a rage. His face darkened and he lunged for me again.”
Just then, Katia appeared out of nowhere and swung her purse right at his head.§
Vincent barely dodged, furious. “Who the hell are you, crazy bitch?!”
Katia stood her ground, hands on her hips. “Kidnapping an employee right in front of our company? Are you out of your mind?”
Vincent’s eyes burned with fury as he glared at her. But Katia didn’t flinch
He shot me a sharp look. “You’re seriously just going to stand there and let her do this?“}
I calmly held up my phone. “Already called the cops. If you don’t leave right now, I’ll have you charged with harassment.“}
For a second, he froze. His mouth opened, closed, then opened again like a fish gasping for air. Clearly, he hadn’t expected me to go that far. But then his face twisted into a scowl and, without another word, he stormed off, seething.
I nudged Katia’s arm, half–grinning. “Thanks.”
She shook her head, still glaring after Vincent. “That’s your ex? That guy is seriously unhinged.“>
From the moment the plagiarism scandal broke, my whole past had been dug up like some reality TV scandal. Vincent Blackthorne’s name was everywhere, as if I hadn’t worked hard enough to leave all that behind.§
But honestly, I was surprised Katia helped me.”
Later, when I asked her to elaborate, she shrugged and said, “I’ve officially given up on Damian. We’re no longer rivals. And to be honest? I admire your talent. I actually want to be friend within you.”
I grinned. “Then, what do you say about dinner? Of course it’s on me, friend.”
She agreed happily.
During dinner, she called Damian, dramatically exclaiming, “Andrea got bullied today!”
By the time she was done adding spice to the story, Damian was absolutely fuming. Within an hour, he had eight bodyguards stationed outside my apartment.
I couldn’t help but tease her. “With the way you’re trying to matchmake us, no one would believe you spent five years chasing after Damian.“@
Katia just shrugged, completely unbothered.
