Chapter 20

Eloise was annoyed, frowning and speaking in a voice as cold as ice. “Yes, as long as you can find it.”

Eloise was certain that he wouldn’t be able to find it. Today, the ground was covered with carpets, such a large area, not to mention such a large crowd of people, the ring had long been lost.

As soon as the words fell, Eloise turned and walked towards Zackery, the movement clean and decisive, without a hint of nostalgia.

Leon stared blankly at her back, feeling an unbearable pain in his heart.

He watched as the two of them stood together, surrounded by people who were all praising their perfect match. The jealousy in his heart was almost uncontrollable, knowing that he and Eloise were the ones who should be the most compatible pair.

But in the end, he didn’t say anything, just squatted on the ground in front of everyone and started looking for the ring. He had never done such a humiliating thing in the first twenty-some years of his life, but today he had to do it in front of everyone.

The scrutinizing gazes of the people around him felt like knives cutting into his body, making Leon feel a chill down his spine and his fingertips turning white from gripping too hard. But he still did not leave.

Compared to Eloise, these things were nothing at all.

The Bronner family didn’t say anything when they saw Eloise coming back, they just continued with the wedding.

So everyone ignored Leon’s presence and continued with the wedding.

The wedding ended with a kiss between Eloise and Zackery. Leon heard the cheers in his ears, couldn’t help but clench his fists, and felt his heart ache as if it had been pierced by a thousand tiny needles.

The wedding was over, and no one noticed him. Everyone had left. Leon was still crouching on the ground, searching for the ring, but he still couldn’t find anything.

Night fell, and because his legs had gone numb from crouching for too long, Leon couldn’t help but kneel forward. When he looked up again, he found himself facing a man in a suit.

It was Zackery.

A sense of humiliation surged through Leon in an instant, and he tried to stand up but couldn’t.

Zackery just looked at him coldly, “Just kneel down, no need to make trouble. Long story short, when you bullied Elle before and I didn’t come to find trouble with you, that was me being generous. Elle doesn’t want any involvement with you, so I didn’t come looking for you. But since you came to me, don’t blame me for not being polite. If I see you again, I will make you regret being alive.”

With a fierce determination in his voice, he looked at Leon with eyes that seemed to be sizing up his prey.

As soon as the words fell, Zackery turned and left. “My wife is still waiting for me at home, so I should head back

first.”

Watching Zackery walk away, Leon slowly clenched his fists. He would definitely win Elle back, for sure.

Leon searched all night and finally found the two rings before dawn.

Excitedly, he arrived at the Bronner’s manor holding the ring, shouting, “Elle, I found the ring, please forgive me!”

The Bronner family had heard about what Leon had done to Eloise, and they despised him as a hypocrite. In their eyes, Leon now seemed more like a piece of chewing gum that they couldn’t shake off.

Leandro couldn’t stand the toad anymore. He was about to leave when Laurel stopped him. “Let Elle solve it herself,” she said. Leandro had no choice but to give up.

Eloise walked out the door and saw Leon looking disheveled and haggard, with a strange expression on his face. She had never seen Leon like this before.

Leon saw her coming out, the joy on his face almost impossible to conceal. “Elle, look! I found the ring. Can you for- give me now?”

Eloise looked a bit ridiculous as she took the ring and then, in the next moment, she threw it forcefully into the dis-

tance.

The Bronner’s manor was situated halfway up the mountain, and the ring was instantly dropped down the mountain, never to be seen again.

Eloise flicked her hand as if in disgust, “Not forgiven.”

Zackery leaned against the door frame and watched his wife, unable to help but laugh out loud.

“She really has a heart of stone, Eloise turned around and glared at him, causing Zackery to obediently close his mouth and crouch down to play with Moon.”

It seemed like Zackery was playing with the dogs, but in fact, both of his ears were listening to what they were say- ing.
