Chapter 11
Zaid was dressed very formally today, in a suit and polished shoes.
The same style of clothing, when worn by Lukas, exudes a sharp and professional elite look. However, when worn by Zaid, those rigidness and sharpness quietly fade away, leaving only a gentle and jade–like temperament, which inexplicably evokes a sense of closeness.
We have eaten at this restaurant many times.
This time, however, made me feel somewhat different.
Zaid handed me the sliced steak.
“Kenley, try it and see. Today’s steak was made by me.”
I had some differences. How did Zaid cook by himself?
“It was fat but not greasy, and the cooking time was well controlled. It was very delicious.”
Zaid’s hands were folded on the table, he looked at me uneasily as I finished the steak.
I just realized that there were not many people in the restaurant today.
I suddenly realized what Zaid wanted to do.
The waiter pushed the cart over at that moment.
There was a small two–layer Black Forest cake, which looked similar to a regular cake, but inside it was filled with a variety of fruits that I loved to eat.
“Did you also make the cake?”
Zaid nodded with a smile.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I noticed the waiter’s envious gaze.
This was the second year, Zaid celebrated my birthday for me.
In the past, in the Ward family, every year on my birthday, Lukas would just show up and give me a gift and then leave. The jewelry he gave me was still the style I disliked the most.
I was not surprised when I found a ring in the strawberries.
It was a platinum ring that I liked, with a simple yet elegant design, perfectly matching my
aesthetic.

This ring is larger in size compared to the pigeon egg diamond ring that Lukas bought on a whim when we got married years ago.
Indeed, the difference between a man’s perfunctory attitude and his sincerity can be discerned at a
glance.
“Kenley, I had liked you for a long time, even longer than the time you liked Lukas.”
Zaid knelt on both knees, his eyes filled with sincerity.
He fell in love with me at first sight when he was in his freshman year.
But at that time, I liked Lukas.
I once wrote down my dream of becoming a wedding dress designer on the wish wall at the college.
After graduating from college, Zaid opened a wedding dress shop in Vellaraland.
Fortunately, the heavens had been looking after him for many years, as he remained unwavering in
his determination.
He finally waited for me.
Before I could even speak, Lukas appeared with several bodyguards, interrupting the proposal
ceremony.
He forcefully carried me away and brought me back to the hotel where he was staying.
I was thrown onto the bed by Lukas, tried to get up, but he pounced on me again.
He had a look of unwillingness and resentment in his eyes.
“Kenley, if I hadn’t shown up, would you have accepted his proposal?”
“So what if it was? Can you control it?”
I revealed my thoughts, which thoroughly angered Lukas.
His face twisted with a smile.
“Very well, Kenley, I couldn’t control you, so let the child control you!”
I curled up in the corner of the wall with some fear afterwards.
Lukas grabbed my ankle and dragged me closer.
