Chapter 26 Expressing His Anger
When Iliana left the company, no colleague talked to her.
They were all resentful towards her.
Bryanna, however, smiled and waved at her.
Iliana acted like she didn’t see and walked away.
After shopping, she came back home in the evening.
Soon after sitting down to relax, the doorbell rang.
Seeing Maurice’s handsome face through the peephole, Iliana blinked and quickly opened the door.
“Mr. Andrade, do you need anything?”
Iliana had curved eyebrows and a smile at the corners of her eyes, her small face was delicate and pretty.
Maurice’s heart unexpectedly softened, and he subconsciously curved his lips.
His voice was calm and dignified, “I came to apply the liquid medicine to your wound.”
Again?
Iliana’s heart skipped a beat, and she moved a chair to sit down.
The Maurice she remembered was not such a kind person.

Seeing her laugh from the heart, Maurice gave a slight smile, his lips almost unnoticeably curving into a small smile.
He gently brushed aside her hair and carefully applied the liquid medicine to her wound.
When the TV switched to commercials, Maurice said, “Can you come with me to a place tomorrow?”
“Okay.”
Feeling grateful to Maurice, Iliana agreed right away.
However, remembering the earlier awkwardness, she asked, “For what, and what should I wear?”
“It’s just a dinner, wear whatever you like.”
Iliana was a bit stunned.
After a moment, she smiled and nodded.
Maurice didn’t bother Iliana further, finished applying the liquid medicine to her, reminded her to rest early, and then left.
He was polite and kept a good distance.
After Maurice left, Iliana ran to her wardrobe and started choosing clothes.
Tomorrow, she couldn’t embarrass Maurice again.
The next day’s dinner was set for the afternoon. After resting well,

Iliana went out with Maurice.
She wore a proper business suit, looking very much like a professional
woman.
A slight smile appeared in Maurice’s eyes.
“Beautiful,” he said genuinely.
Iliana had a tall and well–proportioned figure, with no unwanted fat. She was a perfect model for clothes.
Especially her pretty face and gentle, attractive eyes, which were very charming.
Iliana pressed her lips together and looked down, her ears turning red.
She often got compliments and was used to them.
But hearing a compliment from Maurice made her feel a rare joy.
Maurice took Iliana to a fancy hotel.
They got out of the car together, and Iliana followed behind Maurice, firmly remembering her “assistant” role.
But when they entered the private room, she realized that the main guest for today’s dinner was her.
The middle–aged couple sitting at the table were Gaven’s parents and the leaders of the Sutton Group.
Iliana and Maurice exchanged glances. He pulled out a chair for her and instinctively cleaned the table in front of her.
His actions made the couple across from them look shocked.

Gaven’s father, Rickey Sutton, chuckled loudly, his laugh sounding a bit forced, “Mr. Andrade, if we had known earlier that Ms. Carson and you were friends, misunderstandings like the last time wouldn’t have happened.”
Gaven’s mother, Karen Sutton, agreed with her husband, quickly smiling and saying, “I met Ms. Carson once a year ago. Even then, I felt she wasn’t an ordinary young woman. Now, it turns out my guess was correct.”
Iliana heard their flattering words but felt no emotional change.
She knew they were just trying to be friendly because of Maurice.
This dinner was completely boring.
Maurice placed a glass of low–alcohol wine in front of Iliana. He glanced at Karen and Rickey across from him, his eyes showing a hint of coldness.
Rickey understood Maurice’s hint and quickly pulled out the prepared contract, pushing it toward Iliana.
“Ms. Carson, please review the contract. If there are no problems, we can finalize it.”
Iliana looked at Maurice again and, seeing him nod, took the contract.
But when she flipped to the profit–sharing section, Iliana noticed something was wrong.
Originally, the project was supposed to be a 50-50 split since both sides were contributing equally.
But this contract stated a 30-70 split, with the Sutton family getting 30% and Bryson’s company getting 70%.

Clearly, the Sutton family had reduced their share to please Maurice.
There might be other reasons as well.
Iliana remembered Gaven’s behavior that day and lowered her gaze.
She didn’t want to compromise.
She pushed the contract back, her tone indifferent. “Stick to the original contract, a 50-50 split.”
Rickey and Karen exchanged a difficult glance. Seeing Iliana’s discontented expression, they could only reluctantly agree.
The secretary printed a new contract. After Iliana checked it and found no issues, she signed it.
After signing, Karen and Rickey watched Iliana with a bit of unease.
Karen said, “Ms. Carson, what happened that day was my son’s fault. I apologize on his behalf. Can you forgive him?”
Iliana replied to Karen, “Sorry, not suing him personally is already the biggest concession I can make.”
If she had stood up as a victim, the punishment Gaven would face would have been much harsher.
Karen wanted to argue more, but Maurice intervened timely, “She’s still injured and needs rest.”
Hearing this, Karen immediately stopped talking.
The injuries on Iliana were caused by her son.
Karen knew that if they kept holding on to Iliana, Maurice would

continue to oppress the Sutton Group.
A day after the incident, the Sutton Group’s projects were almost entirely taken over by Maurice.
The company was in disarray, and they couldn’t think of any solution to save Gaven.
Everyone knew that Maurice was expressing his anger.
The best solution was to sign a contract with Iliana and then ask Maurice to be lenient.
That was why there was a dinner gathering today.
The food on the table was hardly touched, and Iliana had no desire to eat.
She wanted to leave.
Maurice, noticing her expression, stood up and left with her.
After getting in the car, Maurice looked at Iliana through the rearview mirror and asked, “Did you like the food I sent you last time?”
Last time, when Iliana wasn’t feeling well, Maurice ordered a meal for her from a nearby hotel.
It included all her favorite dishes.
She nodded.
Maurice started the car. “Shall we go eat now?”
“Okay.”
Iliana agreed quickly.

She looked out the window and exhaled on it.
吃
It felt like a heavy burden had been lifted from her heart.
Her eyes were bright, showing hope for the future.
Tomorrow, she would send the contract to the company and then wait calmly for her departure.
Except for the last day, when she would officially say goodbye to
Bryson one more time, she didn’t want to see him again.
