Chapter 12 Send Her to the Subsidiary
Bryson chuckled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “To let our Lia grow independently. It’s preparation for becoming a leader someday.”
Leader?
Iliana met his warm gaze.
Once, she might have believed him.
But she wasn’t naive anymore.
He did that for Bryanna.
“And?”
Her voice stayed calm, eyes sharp.
Bryson’s smile faltered. “Bryanna’s health is fragile. She’s taking your role. You’re capable. Use this chance to start fresh at the subsidiary.”
He reached for her face, but she dodged.
“Fine,” Iliana said.
She’d poured three years into this company for him.
Now, she wanted none of it.
Where she went no longer mattered.
If Bryanna wanted her position, let her have it.

But Iliana doubted Bryanna could fill her shoes.
Bryson stiffened at her quick agreement.
“You’ve grown so mature lately,” he said slowly, eyes unfathomable.
She wasn’t being mature. She was just done with it.
Before leaving, Iliana turned. “Did you ever consider sending Bryanna instead?”
He paused, frowning.
After a moment, he smiled helplessly and explained, “It’s not that I don’t want Bryanna to go there, but she’s new here and doesn’t understand most projects yet. I need to guide her personally. You’re different. Even without me, you can handle things on your own.”
The explanation sounded reasonable, but Iliana knew the truth beneath
his words.
“Is that really what you think?” she asked, staring at him.
Bryson patted her head. “Of course. I don’t want to be apart from you either.”
Iliana laughed bitterly, her heart turning colder.
A man’s love or the absence of it was laid bare in his choices.
She’d lost completely.
She said nothing more.
After leaving the study, she checked into a hotel and stayed alone.
She didn’t care how Bryson treated her, but she couldn’t bear watching

the man she once loved dote on another woman.
Out of sight, out of mind.
She had zero interest in being a spectator to their romance.
Though she stayed out all night, Bryson never called.
The next day, Iliana returned to the office to pack.
In the break room, she bumped into Bryanna.
“Heard you’re being transferred to the subsidiary,” Bryanna smirked.
Iliana hadn’t expected her to know so soon.
The smugness on Bryanna’s face confirmed everything.
“Just here to clear my desk,” Iliana replied flatly.
Bryanna sneered. “Don’t forget to pack your things at home too.”
“What?”
“Didn’t Brys tell you? You need to move out.”
Iliana’s lashes fluttered.
Move out?
So far, Bryson had never mentioned this to her.
Not only did he want her out of the company, but also out of their
home.
Fine.

She was leaving anyway.
Iliana met Bryanna’s triumphant gaze, her own eyes icy.
“So what?” she said coldly. “You scheming to take my place is pathetic. These things only mattered when I cared. Now, take them all.”
She no longer cared.
The house she’d lived in for three years could welcome a new mistress. The company where she’d stayed could have a replacement.
Bryanna might think she’d won.
But from the moment Iliana decided to leave, none of it held value, not even Bryson.
The greatest irony was fighting for scraps someone else discarded.
Iliana refused to argue. She packed her office belongings and headed
home.
She’d planned to stay until her wedding, but leaving a day early changed nothing.
Back home, she pulled out a suitcase and silently folded her clothes.
A voice interrupted. “Lia?”
Bryson leaned against the doorframe, his posture elegant, a smile in his
eyes.
“What are you packing for?” he asked.
