Chapter 25
The hem of the wedding gown, which had been altered from a chasuble, brushed over the pages of the open book.
Nolan buried his face in Alicia’s neck, suddenly remembering the previous night when he had copied the words “a thousand waves in the river of love, ten thousand waves in the sea of bitterness.” As he lay there, he heard her retching sound, and the tip of his quill pen was soaked with the words “turn back while you can.”
“Ally, you were the most important person to me. I was willing to give up this contemplative heart for you, to return to the worldly affairs, and spend my life with you.”
Nolan planted a sincere kiss on Alicia’s lips, sealing their vows between each other’s lips.
When the bride’s mother approached with the gilded box, Alicia caught a whiff of the familiar scent of Frankincense on the box.
As she lifted the lid of the gilded box, she saw twenty strands of rosary beads shimmering on the red satin.
This is olive wood offered by St. Michael’s Cathedral for centuries.
The last strand still bore traces of blessed ash, clearly a relic that Nolan had just removed from his wrist.
“Ally, please drink the wine with me.”
Nolan placed the jade cup to her lips, the green jade cup still retaining the coolness from the water Christ had offered earlier.

Nolan’s hand trembled slightly as he held her waist, the new red string tied between his wrist and the old rosary beads from days past layered on top of each other.
When the two people clinked their cups, the clear sound of their arm bracelets colliding startled the spring swallows in the beams, causing half a piece of gold foil to suddenly fall from the beak of a swallow carrying mud.
Interlocked arms caused a slight pain, Alicia suddenly remembered him whispering in her neck last night, saying that this position was just right for him to rest and listen to the morning class.
The chapel’s morning bell rang at this moment.
The deep and melodious bell sound pierced through the joy, startling the koi fish in the release pond to leap out of the water.
For twenty years without interruption, the morning class came with the sacred chant, the chanting collided with the prayer banner, shattering into a sky full of maple red in the autumn wind.
The prayer banner suddenly moved without any wind.
Nolan’s hot kiss landed on Alicia’s neck, and the warm breath even
made her shiver all over.
Their sleeves intertwined, the two embraced and kissed each other, the scents of frankincense and orange blossom becoming more pronounced in the hot breath; Alicia ran her fingers up Nolan’s half–fallen clothes back, lightly touching his burning skin with her icy fingertips, making his breathing even heavier.
“Ally… Their eyes met, the emotions swirling in their gaze like threads, entwining them together; a kind of sharp warmth enveloped her inch by

inch, as they both fell into the flames of love, searching for that hidden place of passion amidst the surging emotions.”
The wedding banquet was held under the gingko tree, where the smell of food mixed with worldly wine, creating a unique and exquisite taste.
Nolan placed a piece of chocolate cake in the white bowl in front of Alicia.
Alicia picked up the teacup, the warm tea exuding a gentle fragrance and rippling..
“Callie, today was the happiest day of my life.”
Alicia said softly, “He was very good to me, we were very much in love, I hope you in heaven can also bless me.”
Alicia toasted to the empty air with tea instead of wine.
When the night fell, the releasing pond shimmered with golden light.
The red–spotted koi fish suddenly leaped out of the water, shattering the pool water into thousands of golden scales.
