Chapter 4
Two overlapping shadows were reflected on the car window, with just a finger–width ga
finger–width gap left open.
Isaiah had Sadie pinned against the driver’s seat, his fingertips tracing her forehead: “Shit, babe, did I hurt you?[
Sadie tilted her h
head up to meet his lips, her eyes sparkling with a pleasing smile.
“Not at all I shouldn’t interrupt you and Mrs. Merrick. I had it coming“]
Isaiah frowned and gave her cheek a playful bite
“Don’t say that. You’re both my precious girls.”
He squeezed her waist, his voice taking on a roguish edge: “Still got that smart mouth? Guess I didn’t throw hard enough.“[]
Before she could respond, he gripped her waist with one han
hand, cupped her jaw with the o
the other, and kissed her hard.
Sadie pushed against him half–heartedly, her voice breathy and teasing “But this is her car. I don’t want to do this here…]
“Plus your wife is still waiting for you in the lounge. You promised you’d be right back.“[]
Taalah pinned her wrists above her head with one hand, the other sliding down her waist as his voice went rough: “Sull thinking about her while I’m touching you? Don’t worry–I can take care of you real quick and still have time for her.”
Soon enough, Sadie’s breathing turned ragged as she melted against his shoulder.
Those intimate sounds drifted out on the wind Genesis stood frozen, her blood turning to ice. Her legs nearly gave out, and her chest felt like someone had torn a hole straight through it–the pain making her vision go black.
She suddenly remembered the day the racing club opened. Isaiah had waited like a kid hoping for praise, but she’d been too overwhelmed with joy to speak, just crying happy tears.]
So he’d pulled her into the back seat of a race car, his breath hot against her skin as he tugged at her clothes. She’d been just as caught up in the moment, but still bit her lip and pushed him away.
“Isaiah, racing isn’t just my career–it’s my ultimate dream. It’s pure, and I need it to stak that way.”
Isaiah had frozen then. She’d thought he’d be angry, but instead he straightened their clothes and sat up, placing his hand over his heart with eyes that blazed with sincerity
“I swear to God, racing is also my dream now. I promise you, I will always honor what this means to you. I will never have sex. car….“]
He’d whispered those last words in her ear, making her face burn red.]
in your race
That unwavering promise had convinced her he was her soulmate for life.
But now here he was fucking another woman in her car, trampling on everything she held sacred.
Genesis couldn’t stand anymore. Her car keys clattered to the ground. She snapped back to reality and tried to run, but realized the people in the car hadn’t noticed anything outside
She forced out a smile uglier than tears, bit down hard on her knuckles, and swallowed every sob.
That’s when the rain started. The car window gap clicked shut.]
Chapter
Genesis took one last look at the still rocking car, bent down to grab her keys, and threw them down the nearest storm drain.]
In the back seat, Sadie happened to look up and caught Genesis’s retreating figure in the rearview mirror. A satisfied smile spread across her lips.
The shower came and went quickly: []
When Isaiah pushed open the lounge door, Genesis was still sitting exactly where he’d left her
He breathed a sigh of relief and tugged at his collar, crouching in front of her: “Come on, Gen. Let’s head home.“]
When Genesis looked down, she caught sight of the fresh red mark on his neck
Strangely, she felt nothing at all]
She didn’t let him carry her, instead limping along the wall to the car. But when she opened the passenger door, she saw Sadie sitting in the driver’s seat.
Isaiah quickly followed to explain: “Sadie entered this little local race, and I thought maybe she could get some practice on the way home. You could coach her a bit. What do you say, babe?”
Genesis hesitated, then nodded
No matter how much she hated Sadie, she respected anyone who truly loved racing
If only she’d known Sadie didn’t even have a regular driver’s license–she never would have opened that car door.[]
When
the e car suddenly swerved wildly, Genesis’s heart jumped into her throat. She reached for the steering wheel, but Sadie shoved her away
hard
“Back off if you wanna
live!” Genesis shouted in warning]
But instead of letting up. Sadie actually gripped the wheel tighter and slammed the gas pedal to the floor||
A thunderous crash and Isaiah’s voice hit at the same time:[]
“Gen!
