Chapter 24
Isaiah stared in the direction of the voice, his mouth dropping open in shock:[]
“Nolan, what the hell are you doing here?”
Nolan wrapped his arm around Genesis’s shoulders, and when he felt she didn’t pull away, he held her closer.
Tm her fiance. Why wouldn’t I be here?“]]
Those words hit Isaiah like lightning. His mind went blank with a deafening roar, unable to hear anything else: “Fiancé? That’s impossible! Gen…. how could he be your fance?”
His eyes reddened, his lips trembling.
Genesis pulled down Nolan’s hand and interlaced their fingers, holding them up in front of Isaiah.]]
“Why is it impossible? I’m single and free–what’s so hard to accept about me having a fiance?“||
Isaiah’s lips moved wordlessly, his eyes full of disbelief
Genesis’s words cut into his heart like a dull knife, each word slicing deeper.
His throat worked “No, I won’t allow it. I love you–you can only belong to me!“]
Genesis couldn’t help but laugh mockingly, done with pretending she didn’t know him![]
“Love? You mean the kind of love that includes cheating, having a bastard kid, and endless abuse? If that’s your love, I’d rather you give it to the
dog!”
Genesis’s cold stare was like ice piercing his bones. Suddenly he felt afraid–he’d never imagined Genesis might not love him.
Anna, who’d been watching the drama unfold, finally placed together what was happening.
So this was the scumbag who’d forced Coach Gen to retire and leave the country. She immediately transferred back that twenty thousand from yesterday and glared at him furiously
“You’ve got some nerve showing up here! Haven’t you fucked her over enough already? She gave up everything she loved because of you, and her legs still kill her every time it rains!”
“The shir you put her through still haunts her every damn day. If you actually gave a crap about her, you’d disappear and leave our coach the hell alone! God, you men are all fucking garbage!”
Isaiah hung his head, accepting all her accusations, but he couldn’t help looking at Genesia
“Gen, I know
ow I was wrong now. I’ll never hurt you again. But the Whitakers are dangerous–aren’t you afraid he’ll be even worse than me someday?”
Anna was about to retort, but Nolan beat her to t
Time will prove everything. I’ve waited for Genesis for fourteen years, and I can wait another fourteen. Hell, I’ll wait my whole life if I have to–she’s the only woman I’ll ever love.”
“I cut ties with the Whitaker family long ago. What they do is none of my business. I drew up a prenup fourteen years ago, and even though we’re not married yet, I’ve already signed over property transfer agreements. Everything I own belongs to Genesis. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”
Genesis was stunned by his words. Nolan had always been arrogant and proud, looking down on everyone||
She’d thought his three years of pursuit were just because he couldn’t handle not getting what he wanted when he was young.[]
But she never imagined he’d actually waited fourteen years for her–that what she’d thought was fleeting teenage infatuation had lasted fourteen years.]
Only after speaking did Nolan feel embarrassed. He touched his nose and tried to pull his hand back, but Genesis gripped it tightly.
Nolan raised an eyebrow at Genesis, and she defiantly raised one back at him.[]
Isaiah watched their interaction, their clasped hands driving him crazy
“This is bullshit! Gen, quit putting on this act to mess with me. I get it–I fucked up bad. I’ll do whatever you want–chain me up, run over my legs, set me on fire–i don’t care what you do to me, just please forgive me. I’m losing my goddamn mind here… I can’t live without you.“[]
Isaiah’s eyes trembled, and tears rolled down his cheeks ||
Anna’s anger flared at his tears:
“What’s there to cry about? You don’t love Coach Gen at all–you’re just possessive. Seeing someone else take her makes you want to own her again. Real love is letting go, letting her find her own happiness, being happy when she’s happy. Stop lying to yourself!”
Isaiah desperately denied it: “No! That’s not how it is! Isn’t love supposed to mean keeping her by your side every day? love Gen, so I want her to never leave me again.”
“Everything before was my mistake. Sadie blinded me, but I’ve taught her a lesson–she can never hurt you again. Please give me one more
chance, Gen?
Genesis snapped coldly: “No! I don’t want to see you, don’t want to be with you, don’t want to look at you ever again!“[]
Isaiah was burned by the coldness in her eyes, bitter and lost.
He was about to say more when someone interrupted with “It’s snowing?
When he came back to his senses, Genesis
is had already left with Nolan. Only Anna remained, arms crossed, standing in front of him.[]
“You piece of shit, didn’t you say you’d do anything if Coach Gen forgave you? Then stand out here in the snow all night.
