Chapter 18
“Why the hell is this all on me! It’s YOU! It was
YOUR fault all along
Sadie shrieked through the flames. “I could’ve had a better life, but your family ruined everything!“||
“Sure, you were nice to me as a kid, but your grandmother hated my
from day one! If she hadn’t made my life hell, I never would’ve run!“[]
“All I wanted was to build a life with you, have a real wedding, a proper family–but what did you do? You didn’t come after me, just fell for some other bitch! You betrayed me first!”
“Don’t tell me you didn’t know what I was doing to Genesis! You knew everything and played dumb–you let me do it! YOU killed Genesis! YOUr]]
“You couldn’t have saved her anyway, and even if you had, you’d never win her heart back! Genesis didn’t love you–she fucking hated you! You’re trash, and I’m the only one who’d ever truly care about your”
SLAP-
A sharp crack cut through her ranting
Isaiah’s eyes blazed with fury as he stared her down: “SHUT UP! That’s not how it was! Gen loved me she came back from overseas for me! If it wasn’t for you, I definitely could’ve saved hert It’s all because of YOU!]]
He grabbed the pill bottle from the table and brutally pried open Sadie’s mouth, forcing the contents down her throat.]
“You fucked with Gen’s medication and broke her heart, so now you’re gonna get something ten times worse!”
Isaiah released his grip, his face returning to that terrifying calm.
“I don’t give a shit what you say anymore. Every goddamn thing you put Gen through–you’re both paying for it.”
He tossed the empty bottle aside and turned to lock the door.
The instant the door clicked shut, flames burst through the cracks, licking at the gasoline on the floor.
Despair crashed over Sadie as she yanked frantically at the handcuffs, the metal scraping her wrists raw and bloody.
But remembering her destroyed legs, she screamed desperately at Cameron: “Cam! Save me! I don’t want to die!”
Cameron struggled to lift his head through the thick smoke, tears streaming from his stinging eyes.
Catching sight of the mangled flesh where Sadie’s legs used to be, he looked nway, his voice shaking: “Hey, it’s okay, sweetheart. I’m gonna get you out of here, I promise.”
The fire raged hotter, smoke choking the air, but Cameron still hadn’t moved.]]
Sadie’s venom struck like a snake: “Cameron! You want me dead, don’t you! If it wasn’t for your precious little sister, I never would’ve been dumped on Merricks like unwanted baggage! You owe me for the rest of your life!“]
You crushed my legs, and now you’re gonna watch me burn alive?!“||
Cameron suddenly bit down hard and stopped listening to her, desperately working at the ropes around his hands. Sweat and ash streamed down his face as he grunted–finally, the rope snapped
He rubbed his swollen wrists, untied his feet, and stumbled toward Sadie.
“Sadie, grab onto mel

But the handcuffs were locked tight, and the fire had already reached the headboard
Cameron’s eyes went red as he frantically tried to break the bed frame
CRACK–the headboard splintered, exposing the handcuff chain
Just as he reached for the cuffs, a ceiling beam crashed down with a thunderous roar, flames instantly devouring half the room
Cameron hoisted Sadie onto his back and charged for the door, only to find it warped beyond opening from the heat[]
“The window!”
He roared and spun toward the window, but it was sealed shut with metal sheets.
He pounded his fists against it until cracks appeared, then one final punch–the glass shattered]
Just as he stepped onto the windowsill, something slammed into the back of his neck, forcing his body backward.
Before he could react, a burning support beam crashed down, pinning him beneath it.
“Cameron! This is what you deserve!“||
Sadle clawed at the window frame, watching him trapped under the beam, letting out a maniacal laugh
With that, she used her arms to pull herself through the window and threw herself outside.
When the cool grass hit her body, she lay there laughing through tears, overwhelmed by the cuphoria of survival
The room, along with Cameron, was soon completely consumed by the towering flames.
