Chapter 14
“I told you that little childhood bride was trouble, but you wouldn’t listen. See for yourself.”
Weston slammed a stack of printed chat records on the table.[]
They
ey were all filled with Sadie’s harassment of Genesis over the past two weeks.[]
[Oh Genesis honey, maybe it’s time to stop playing house in someone else’s life? I really thought you’d take the hint by now, but I guess some people just don’t know when they’re not wanted. Isaiah says Little Axel has his eyes–don’t you think they look just alike-?]
Now you finally know where you really
y stand with Isaiah, don’t you? If I hadn’t run off back then, there never would’ve been a spot for some random bitch like youl
[Married five years and still can’t pop out a baby–what’s wrong, are your eggs all dried up or can’t Isaiah even get it up for you anymore? Maybe I should make you a tutorial so you can learn how it’s done–he can’t keep his hands off me in bed—
[Look at this! Isaiah just railed me in your precious little race car. Holy shit, that was incredible. ]]]
There were thousands of messages like this, plus countless provocative photos
Isaiah flipped through them one by one, his expression growing darker, the anger he’d just suppressed now boiling over.
He’d never imagined Sadie had been pulling so many strings behind the scenes. Genesis had known everything and never said a word
She must have been completely disappointed in him
He gripped the chat records and started to get up, but Weston pressed him back down: “Hold on, there’s more.”
Weston pulled out a bottle of pills: “This the vitamin C you prescribed for Genesis? Sadie switched it out for sterilization drugs. And Genesis know.”
Isaiah frowned and picked up a pill, biting into it. The moment the bitter taste hit his tongue, he knew exactly what it was.
A deeper sense of helplessness and heartbreak washed over him.]
Genesis knew the pills had been switched, but every time he told her to take them, she still swallowed them obediently.
What the hell had he done!
Weston opened another video: “This one’s even worse–didn’t think Sadie would actually try to commit murder.”
The video was from the car accident’s dashcam footage
You could clearly see that before Genesis got in the car, Sadie had wedged a thin metal rod under the passenger seat to jam someone in place
When the car went out of control, Sadie shoved Genesis away when she tried to help, then deliberately floored the gas pedal at that exact mament.
Watching Genesis covered in blood but still trying to respond to his calls, Isaiah’s eyes filled with tears and his whole body shook uncontrollably.
All the truth he’d been blind to was laid bare before him []
So Genesis losing her racing career forever was all Sadie’s doing]
And what had he been doing?
He’d actually blamed Genesis in her most desperate moment, told her to look at her own faults
Endless guilt consumed Isaiah as he pounded his chest, which had been aching since yesterday: “It’s all my fault_everything’s my fault!”
He covered his eyes with his arm, but his heaving chest gave away how completely he’d broken down.
Weston pulled out more evidence of Sadie’s schemes against Genesis, including surveillance footage of her intercepting the phone call backstage at the wedding
Seeing Cameron agree to help her cover it up. Isaiah felt something collapse inside his chest.
He’d never expected his childhood friend to team up with Sadie against his wife
Cameron knew exactly how much he loved Genesis, but still chose to stay silent.
After seeing it all, Isaiah finally understood how thoroughly Sadie had played him
If he hadn’t enabled her, how could Sadie have gotten so bold? He was her accomplice!]
The rage burning inside him made it impossible to sit still. He drove straight to Sadie’s place[]
The moment he kicked the door open, the laughter inside stopped dead.|||
