Chapter 6
The tumor in Scrafina’s stomach had grown so big that it was already pressing on her other organs.
If she did not get surgery soon, she could die.
The doctor explained everything to her parents, but Serafina would not let them sign the consent forms.
She kept holding her belly protectively and stared at her parents with hollow, suspicious eyes.
“I’m carrying the Gallo family’s heir. If anyone dares to hurt my baby, Enzo won’t forgive you.”
My mom cried so much that her eyes were swollen. She spoke gently, “Sera, you’re still young. You can have kids again later. Please, just listen and have the surgery.”
Dad added, “No matter how important the baby is, your health matters more. Don’t make things hard for us.”
However, Serafina would not listen. She threw a tantrum in the hospital and wouldn’t let anyone near her belly.
With no other options, my parents came to me.
I laughed to myself but kept a concerned look on my face.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry. As long as we take the tumor out, Serafina will be okay.”

Now that they needed me, they lowered their voices and begged.
“Alessia, she’s your sister. Even if she made mistakes, you can’t forget your family, right?”
I found it kind of ridiculous, so I asked, “Then why didn’t you stand by me when Serafina accused me?”
Their faces turned red, and they quickly apologized in soft voices.
“Alessia, we’re sorry. It was our fault. We were tricked by Sera. Please don’t hold it against us.”
At this point, I decided to be the bigger person and let it go.
I smiled and said, “Don’t worry, Mom, Dad. I’ll make sure the tumor gets removed from Sera’s stomach.”
When I said “tumor,” I made sure to say it clearly.
I arranged for Serafina to be taken to a private hospital, but she seemed to know something was up.
“Let me go! Alessia, you brat! Don’t touch my baby! If you do, I’ll fight you with everything I’ve got! I’ll haunt you if I have to!”
In front of my parents, I gently patted her back and said, “Sera, I’m not trying to hurt your baby. Mom and Dad asked me to help you. You’re my sister, so I can’t just watch you die.”
Hearing that, Serafina completely lost it and screamed like a maniac, like she was ready to tear someone apart.
Even my parents did not dare to approach her.
The doctor quickly gave Serafina an anesthetic, and she passed out.

When she woke up, the first thing she did was touch her stomach–only to realize the “baby” was gone.
She went completely off the rails, crying nonstop.
“Why did you kill my baby? That was mine and Enzo’s child! You’re all murderers! I’m going to sue you!”
Even when the doctor kindly showed her a picture of the tumor they removed, she still refused to believe it.
“It was Alessia, wasn’t it? That woman told you to take my baby. It had to be her.
“Why does she get to live better than me?”
The doctor was out of ideas and told her parents she needed to be sent to a psych ward.
However, Serafina hugged her stomach and said, “I’m not crazy.”
Mom tried to comfort her while hugging her gently. “Sera, it’s okay. Mommy’s here. Don’t cry.”
Serafina looked at me with so much hatred. “This is all your fault. I hope you die. You killed my baby!”
I rolled my eyes.
“The truth is, the doctor said you were never pregnant. You need to stop being so stubborn.”
Mom stepped in. “Sera, your sister saved your life this time. Don’t forget that. Don’t say such hurtful things.”
However, Serafina would not let it go, and she lunged at me again.

“You’ll pay for what you did to my baby!”
I looked at her without any emotion and shook her hand off. “You brought this on yourself. Don’t blame me.”
Mom quickly pulled her away and tried to calm her. “Sera, if you hadn’t had the surgery, you’d be dead.”
Serafina turned to Mom with a crazy look in her eyes and suddenly grabbed her by the neck. “You did this! You killed my baby!”
That was the last straw. Dad rushed over, pulled Serafina off her mom, and slapped her.
“Enough! You did this to yourself. If it weren’t for your sister, you’d be dead by now. We don’t have a daughter like you anymore!”
Serafina had gripped Mom so hard that bruises were already forming on her neck. Mom backed away in fear, tears falling down her cheeks.
There was no doubt left–Serafina had really lost her mind.
