When Serafina saw the marriage certificate, she froze.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she snatched it from the table. “No way. This can’t be real!”
My parents rushed over to look too, their expressions switching from shock to confusion as they realized it was legit.
I stayed calm and took the certificate back from her hands.
“Marriage is protected by law. So, can we drop the whole ‘break up with him‘ talk now?”
My dad slammed his hand on the table. “Alessia, you’re getting more and more ridiculous. How could you get married behind our backs? Do you even care about your mother and me anymore?”
I just shrugged. “Well, I am already married, so what are you gonna do about it now?”
Serafina suddenly snapped.
“No! This is fake! It has to be fake!
“There’s no way he’d marry you! He’s just playing around. This is all one big joke!”
She tried to snatch the certificate again, but Enzo stepped in right away, standing protectively in front of me.

However, Serafina was not having it. Tears welled up in her eyes again, and she reached toward Enzo. “Enzo, please don’t do this. Don’t abandon me. We can fix this, okay?”
Then her tone changed to a sharp and desperate one. “Did she threaten you? Is that it? Say something!
“Why won’t you say anything?”
Enzo warned her again, “Please back off. We don’t know each other. I’ve never had any kind of relationship with you. Stop lying.”
My parents‘ faces got darker by the second, but they still tried to play the wise and loving card.
“Alessia, you see how he treats your sister now? One day, he’ll treat you the same way.
“This marriage doesn’t count. We don’t approve. That means it doesn’t stand.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “Whether you approve or not doesn’t matter. Our names are right here, in black and white. I’m Enzo’s wife legally.”
The moment I said “wife,” Serafina’s whole expression crumbled. She just stood there, shaking, unable to accept the reality.
Serafina totally lost it. She lunged at me, trying to snatch the marriage certificate again.
Mom quickly pulled her back and said softly, “Serafina, you’ve always been fragile. Don’t overdo it. What if Alessia accidentally hurt you?”

Hearing that made my heart go cold.
Serafina looked completely unhinged, yelling at both me and Enzo like she was drunk.
“You are so cheap! You really think you deserve Enzo? He liked me first! What tricks did you use to steal him from me?
“Even if you’re married, Enzo only loves me. I’m the one he slept with.
“I’m pregnant with his baby!”
I narrowed my eyes and said sharply, “You should really watch your mouth.”
Enzo stepped in again, his tone turning serious. “I’ve been patient because you’re Alessia’s sister. But if you keep lying, I’ll bring in my lawyer.”
Serafina tried grabbing his hand, crying, “Please! I’m carrying your child. Don’t abandon us!”
Enzo pulled his hand away like he had touched something gross.
Serafina’s screaming got worse, and she even looked like she wanted to hit me.

Enzo stepped forward and said calmly, “Your daughter caused trouble. So, she should face the consequences. As parents, you shouldn’t spoil bad behavior.”
I looked at them and laughed coldly. “Oh, now I’m not your daughter?”
My parents did not say anything–just stood there, stunned.
I pulled out my phone and called the police.
Serafina’s real nature was finally exposed. She tried to lunge forward and grab Enzo, but the police restrained her. All she could do was shout at us helplessly.
My parents stood frozen. They had never seen her act like this.
“Sera, what’s going on? I’m your mom…….
“Help your sister, Alessia! Why are you just standing there?”
I did not flinch. I just held Enzo’s hand and smiled. “Mom, Dad, don’t worry. I’ll move out. I won’t bother your happy little family again.”
Since Serafina was their favorite, I figured I would just leave them with her.
Enzo squeezed my hand and led me out of what used to be my home.
