Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Sandra pulled her daughter over, a hint of anger in her eyes.
“With just this piece of paper, you say my daughter deceived you?
Peter, has your conscience been fed to the dogs?”
“Whether she deceived me or not, she knows in her heart. These reports were hospital-tested. If yo check yourself.”
Remembering that day two years ago, Peter’s heart bled.
He woke to find himself in bed with a woman he didn’t love; that despair still made his heart ache.
“Peter, everyone saw Samantha’s devotion these two years. Are you accusing her of cheating?”
Sandra stared into Peter’s eyes.
“I never touched her. Since the child isn’t mine, it’s someone else’s.”
For two years, Peter gave Samantha everything except his heart.
He funded her whims, bought tickets wherever she wanted.
Her clothes, shoes, bags…
Even her meals and monthly sanitary products-he purchased them personally.
Had Raymond not approached him today, he’d never have known about her deception.
People said Samantha adored him, that he was unworthy-but who understood his pain?
Diana, having lived through youth, now grasped the truth.
“Samantha, tell me-whose child is it?”
Sandra tried to speak, but Samantha stopped her.
“Aunt Diana, I’m sorry. I deceived Peter for two years. There’s no baby.”
She pulled a cloth bundle from under her clothes.
“I did this only because I love Peter too much.”
“Samantha…” Sandra felt exasperated at her daughter’s weakness.
“You gain nothing this way. It’s pointless.”

Chapter 20
Samantha shook her head. “Mom, he knows the truth. I won’t pretend anyone”
Better to confess than prolong this entanglement.
For two years, she poured her soul into Peter-enough to warm iron.
She was exhausted
Peter relaxed when Samantha confessed so readily.
“I’ll have Michael arrange the settlement.”
The Wrights weren’t poor, but formalities must be observed after two year
Samantha laughed softly at Peter.
“No wonder Kim left you. Thank you for never loving me.”
She led Sandra out.
Any decent man would show emotion after two years together.
Yet Peter casually said, “Have Michael discuss the breakup settlement”
In the car, Sandra looked grim.
“Samantha, you shouldn’t have confessed.”
Samantha picked her palm, gazing helplessly.
“Mom, what would you have me do?
Keep lying that the child was his?”
But truth will out. If he investigates further, he’ll discover I’ve never been pregnant
Had Sandra not insisted last time, Kim would have come clean earlier.
Better a terrible end than terror without end. This might be for the best
