After hanging up the phone, Samantha couldn’t hold back her tears.
“Mom, turns out Peter loved Kim all along. I don’t want anything to do with him anymore.”
“I loved the wrong man, Mom. The living can’t compete with the dead. I don’t want him now. Should this ‘child’ even exist?”
No wonder Peter stayed overnight at Kim’s grave that day.
No wonder things got so awkward between them after returning from the Alpine Mountain Range.

Sandra stroked her daughter’s hair, heart aching.

Now that Diana insisted, she felt reluctant.
Sandra gently pulled her daughter into an embrace.
“Samantha, there’s no turning back now. Everyone’s seen how devoted you’ve been to Peter these years.”
“Even if you leave, make the Jackson family pay.’
Samantha buried her face in her mother’s chest: “What should I do then?”
Sandra whispered: “Keep faking the pregnancy.”
Samantha’s eyes widened.
“Fake it?
Easy to fake pregnancy, but how do I fake a baby after ten months?”
Sandra’s lips curved: “We’ll adopt a newborn from an orphanage.”
She sighed softly.

No one understood Samantha’s love for Peter better than his mother.
For two years she’d stayed loyally by his side, yet never touched his heart.
Samantha clung to Sandra, choking up: “Mom, what if we get caught?”
Before learning Kim was Peter’s ex, she’d believed she could replace her.
