We followed the blond guy to the back of the house to a large room, that looked like a game room play stations all around, pin pong table, dart boards and lots of other stuff scattered across the room. In the middle of it all was a medium sized coffee table with 3 couches around it, that’s where everyone was gathered. Two pretty roughed up guys sitting on one of the couches, they didn’t look that bad, but they did have their heads in their hands in a gesture of mortification, looking to the floor. I casted my glance to the other couch and my breath hitched for a moment. On another couch was the third guy, who looked like he just had a date with a bear and said bear had shown the guy just how much he didn’t like his date. Half of his chest had huge claw gashes, one of his arms was broken, minor cuts graced his arms legs and face. Blood was dripping from the couch to the floor forming a small pool. Even though I was no human doctor, that’s was where I rushed, because he clearly needed urgent medical assistance and me and doc Evans were the only ones mentally equipped to help.
“What the hell happened to Jeffrey?!” Doc barked out, rushing to the guy one the couch along with
- me.
“We were patrolling the east border and everything seemed fine“, one of the guys started, his eyes still locked to the floor. “We were just going to head back to the house pack, when these rogues suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They were watching us, that’s for sure, and they somehow masked their scents, so we had no way of knowing they were there.”
“Jeffrey was closer to them, he must have heard something and slowed his pace“, the other guy picked up. “I haven’t seen where they appeared from, but they clearly caught him by surprise, because not a second later he was thrown into a tree.” I was cleaning the skin around the gashes on my patient’s chest, while doc was examining the broken arm, meanwhile the second guy continued with the story. “We tried fighting them off, but they were 5 against two, Jeffrey tried as well, but look where it got him…”
“Doc, I need to stop the bleeding and stitch his chest up, but I have no idea if the internal have suffered….“, I quietly tried to do my best and not alarm everyone in the room. Although it
organs seemed like no one was paying attention to us, everyone was listening to what the guys had to say. Doc Evans turned to my part of the patient, quickly examined the area I was working on and decided that I should just start stitching.
“We managed to kill two, capture one, but another two took off. We came here as fast as we could…”
I don’t know why, but the news that these guys killed someone didn’t creep me out. It was self defense, and by the look of Jeffrey, the dead fuckers deserved it. The boys looked pretty shaky, I figured that they don’t deal with this kind of stuff on a regular basis and I felt bad for them. All in all, I suddenly realized that all of this was uncommon for this town, I have been here for a while already and that’s only the second time I hear of rogues attacking, the first one was when I met Lena. So probably all this were life was as peaceful as any human could be. I snapped out of my

thoughts and started working on patching Jeffrey up. It was a hard thing to do, the peaces of skin were almost completely detached from this body and I had to first put them back together like a
freaking puzzle. I tried thinking of something positive, because the sight in front of me was simply
horrifying and the smell of blood was getting on my pregnant nerves. And also sitting on the floor in front of the couch in my condition was just painful, but Jeffrey needed me and I needed to suck it up. In no time I found myself stitching his chest together, while doc Evans was mending a broken arm. I
tuned out the rest of the conversation and concentrated solely on my part. I was not pack yet, so I didn’t need to know anything. At some point doc finished mending the arm and after checking up on
my work he moved on to the guys on the couch, leaving me to tend to Jeffrey on my own. All in all it
took me almost an hour to sew the skin on his chest together and start examining all his other cuts.
I carefully cleaned every one of them and put some ointment on. When I finished with Jeffrey I looked up and discovered that there were now more people in the room than before. Standing right
over me were two more guys and that’s when I fest real unease. Seems the time to meet the Alpha came earlier than expected…
