Chapter 12
Audrey took a deep breath to compose herself before heading upstairs. As soon as she entered, Chloe immediately threw herself into her arms.
“Mom, have you found Tessa?” Chloe asked, her voice filled with hope.
Audrey looked at her coldly and shook her head. Chloe’s face immediately fell, her disappointment evident.
“How many days has it been? Tessa did this on purpose, to ruin me and then leave, I won’t let her get away with it!” she muttered, her voice laced with anger as she longed to find Tessa.
“Why do you hate your sister so much?” Audrey asked, her tone sharp.
Chloe froze, never having seen her mother look at her that way before.
“Tessa is the one who hates me!” Chloe retorted angrily. “She humiliated me in public!”
“I’m the future Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack. If she insults me, she’s insulting our pack!” Chloe’s voice grew louder, filled with righteous indignation. “I won’t let her get away with it!”
Audrey remained silent, watching her daughter with an unreadable expression.
“Isn’t it you who stole your sister’s boyfriend first? You cheated on her with her mate.” Audrey’s voice cut through Chloe’s words. “Tell me, what has Tessa done wrong?”
For the first time in her life, Audrey was furious with Chloe, and it startled her.
Chloe’s face shifted, her defensiveness crumbling as she began to feel the sting of Audrey’s words. “Mom, why are you taking her side? I’m your daughter!” Chloe cried out in protest, her voice rising in frustration.
Audrey’s eyes narrowed, and without a word, she grabbed the diary and threw it at Chloe.
“Do you still think you can fool me? My real daughter? All these years, haven’t you been deceiving me with Tessa’s story?”
Audrey’s voice trembled with anger. “How dare you talk about being my real daughter?”
Chloe’s eyes widened in disbelief, unable to process that they had uncovered everything.
She had been so careful to cover her tracks–how could they have figured it out?
She opened the diary, scanning the words that described everything, and Chloe’s eyes began to redden, her nerves fraying.

“So what? This could be Tessa’s way of trying to drive a wedge between us!” Chloe snapped, her tone defensive but shaky.
Audrey gave a bitter laugh, unimpressed by Chloe’s excuses.
“Then tell me, where is the halfmoon–shaped necklace I gave you when you were born?”
Chloe froze at the mention of the necklace, and then let out a soft laugh, trying to cover her unease.
“That? It’s been so long, it must have been taken by the orphanage director!”
Chloe said with forced confidence, but Audrey knew the truth–there had never been a halfmoon–shaped necklace.
As Chloe avoided mentioning it, Audrey’s suspicions were confirmed.
Before Chloe could react, Audrey slapped her across the face with a force that left her stunned.
“Stop lying to me!” Audrey shouted. “You are not my real daughter!”
“You’ve been waiting for Tessa to die so you could take her place as the Luna of our pack, haven’t you?”
Chloe clutched her cheek, her eyes bloodshot with rage.
“So what? She’s not fit to be the Luna of the pack!” Chloe sneered. “I’ve been your daughter for over ten years, what’s wrong with that?”
Chloe’s words dripped with a sense of entitlement, as if she had done nothing wrong.
But for Audrey, every time she thought of Tessa, her heart clenched with pain.
“Get out of my sight! Get out of the pack!” Audrey yelled, the fury in her voice uncontainable.
Chloe’s face drained of color at the command to leave the pack, and panic set in.
“I won’t do it again, please, don’t make me leave,” Chloe begged, tears streaming down her face as she clung to Audrey.
Audrey couldn’t stand hearing another word. She wished Chloe would vanish from her sight forever.
“You better leave now, or I’ll have the warriors throw you out!” Audrey’s voice was cold and final.
Seeing her mother’s resolve, Chloe stopped pretending to be innocent. She wiped away her tears, her expression turning cold as she glared at Audrey.

she’ll return to you as your daughter?” Chloe laughed bitterly. “It’s because of you that she’s gone. All the karma is yours!”
Chloe’s words grew more heated, and the venomous accusations spilled out.
Audrey knew how she had treated Tessa, but hearing it from Chloe felt like a slap in the face.
In a rush of overwhelming emotions, Audrey felt a sudden dizziness and collapsed onto the floor.
The maid rushed to call for the pack doctor in a panic, and Liam quickly finished his pack meeting and headed to the hospital, unaware of what had happened.
Outside the hospital room, Chloe’s legs trembled uncontrollably with fear. She had always known Liam’s temperament.
He adored Audrey deeply, and if he found out that Audrey had collapsed because of Chloe, who knew what he would do.
