Chapter74
My father rushed away meanwhile with trembling hands I grabbed Emily’s knees and held them still while my mother applied some pressure to my mate’s stomach.
“Emily, if you hear me I need you to push hard, now!”
I don’t know if she did hear my mother or if it was just some natural instinct, but Emily’s body
tensed and her head fell back, her nails dug into the ground.
“That’s it girl! Don’t stop! She’s coming!” Another painful cry escaped Emily and I felt tears
streaming down my face. I wish I could take the pain away, my love…
After a couple of long agonising minutes a piercing cry sounded through the forest and my mother lifted a tiny little child in her arms. The chord was still attached to her body, connecting her to Emily. My father suddenly appeared behind my mother with a pile of sheets. With a fast move of his nails he severed the chord and took the baby out of my mother’s arms, wrapping her in one of the
sheets. My mother turned back to Emily to deliver the placenta.
“Come on, girl, you did so good, a little more…” she muttered under her node and applied some more pressure to the stomach. Emily’s breath hitched, the screams dies on her lips, her eyes started closing.
“Mother!” I was in full blown panic mode, I couldn’t loose her now, not ever. She couldn’t die…
“Nick! Listen to me! You have to mark her now!” she screamed at me while tucking a sheet between Emily’s legs, taking her knees out of my hands.
“But this will kill her!” I screamed in agitation.
“Or heal her. That is the only chance we have now, son. Do it!”
And so I did. With tears still streaming down my face I sunk my canines into Emily’s neck and marked her. I felt a surge of power rush right through me, another wave of white light coming out of Emily, surrounding us with it’s glow. My mother fell on her backside, covering her eyes with both hands, my father turned his back to us, protecting the baby from whatever this was. Along with the power I felt pain rushing through my veins, pain so blinding that I shut my eyes from the force of it. It was her pain, my mates pain, both physical and emotional, so I accepted it without a hint of complain. If it could keep Emily alive, I would go through it a million times more. I could understand her emotions better now, my poor mate. The hurt of rejection of her parents, betrayal, the worry for all of us and for the baby, but also the love for her daughter and… me. For the first time I received some proof that her love for me was as strong as mine for her. She did feel the bond. It was a turn for happy tears to escape my eyes now. And then suddenly it was all over. Emily’s body went limp in my arms, my canines detached from her skin. I licked the bite marks clean and looked up. Both my parents were stunned to say the least. Quickly my mother stood up and rushed to Emily’s side to check her pulse. Her heart was beating unsteadily, but she was alive and
breathing.

“We need to get her and the baby to the hospital and soon… Let’s move!” She commanded again. We wrapped Emily’s lower body in the rest of the sheets, that soon were soaked in her blood, and I lifted her up in my arms. It was time to move.
But we didn’t get far. As soon as we reached the backyard we were met with a brewing war. It looked like a scene from a movie – two armies of wolf’s were standing on both sides of the yard, both armies had their leaders, our’s had Nathan and Andrew by their side, the other had a person I figured was the Mayor and behind him were two older people, that were definitely human.
“And finally they arrive! Welcome to the party! Where is my son?”
