Chapter 6
As soon as the words left Victor’s mouth, the crowd erupted into a fervent discussion.
“What? Did I hear that right? Even Seacrest’s richest man isn’t qualified to know who she is!”
“With just one phone call, she had a bank move 100 million dollars in cash. How many people in this country could pull that off?”
“This is bad… It looks like Ms. Wallace and Mr. Grant really messed with the wrong person today.”
Miles grew increasingly pale as the murmurs from the crowd grew louder.
“Mr. Grant, I’ve fulfilled your secretary’s request for 100 million dollars in cash. Now, shall we discuss my compensation?” I asked.
Cece suddenly waved her phone in front of my face as she mockingly said, “Hey, bitch. I just looked it up. Even the top–of–the–line Vermilion car only costs a little over 300 thousand dollars. It’s not worth anything!”
I shook my head while smiling gently. “Mr. Grant, it seems your secretary needs to broaden her horizons. My superior’s car isn’t even available to the public. So, how could you expect to find its price online?
“I told you earlier–there are many Vermilion models out there. Do you think the civilian version is the same as the military one?”
Pausing, I turned to Cece, who was still lost in her smug delusions. “Ms. Wallace, since you like looking things up online, why don’t you search for the yalue of a Guardian edition Vermilion SUV?”
Someone in the crowd exclaimed in shock. “What? Did I hear that right? That woman’s car is actually a Vermilion Guardian? I’ve only ever seen these cars during military parades. They’re custom–built for top government officials with fully bulletproof bodies.
“It’s no wonder Mr. Grant’s Ferrari is so badly damaged. Her car is a special grade vehicle!‘
The arrogant glint in Cece’s eyes instantly dimmed. She stammered, “How could this be? I thought it was just an ordinary domestic car

I gave her a sidelong glance.
“Are you regretting your actions now, Ms. Wallace? Did you think I was an easy target to bully and that you could twist the truth, just because I was driving such an unassuming car?” I jibed.
My words rendered Cece speechless. All she could do was turn to Miles for help.
“For all my years of loyal service to the company, you’ve got to save me, Mr. Grant!” she implored.
I smirked as I looked at her, who was now drenched in cold sweat.
“Ms. Wallace, I’d advise you not to
your breath. Your boss is also in hot water now. So, how’s he going to save you?” I mocked.
Miles‘ face darkened. “Don’t push your luck, Ms. Jackman. Remember you’re in Seacrest City.”
“Oh? That sounds like a threat, M.”
Grant,” I replied.
I pulled out my phone before continuing, “Shall I dial for help on your behalf?”
Right in front of everyone, I called Miles‘ father, Griffin Grant. It only rang a few seconds before he picked up.
“Why hello, Ms. Jackman! Aren’t you supposed to be on a date with my son right now? What brings you to call me?” Griffin asked.
speaking slowly?
I shot Miles a meaningful “Mr. Griffin, I just have a question for you. Has your family been living too
comfortably the last few years? Defore
Before Griffin could even process what I meant, I imitated the same threatening tone Cece had used earlier when she spoke to Commander Bayer.
“You have 20 minutes to get to Seacrest Pinnacle. Otherwise, I have no qualms seeing to it that this city crowns someone new as its wealthiest.”
Griffin was silent on the other end of the line. Then, I heard the sound of something shattering over the phone.
“Easy now, Ms. Jackman. Just hold on. I’ll be there immediately!”
This exchange had everyone’s jaw on the floor.
responded.
“Holy shit. Who is this woman? She even looks down on the founder of Grant Enterprise.”
