Chapter 94 A Favor and a Motive
So he was extremely busy.

Meanwhile, Ethan sat in his office, anxiously fiddling with the black rosary on his right wrist using his left hand, a troubled look on his face.
There was no doubt in his mind–Mr. Foster liked Stella.
But during the day, he hardly ever showed up around her.
He wasn’t like the hopeless romantic he’d once been.
In the eyes of a man of Mr. Foster’s caliber, work clearly outweighed love.
To be fair, being that busy wasn’t ideal for a husband. He wouldn’t even have time to take care of Stella.
But when it came to dealing with Lucas, he was absolutely perfect.
Ethan had told Lucas that Mr. Foster was dating his sister, but Lucas hadn’t believed it.
If he actually saw Nathan come to see his sister, though–then maybe he’d believe it.
And once he believed it, maybe he’d finally stop hovering around her.
As long as Lucas stayed away, she’d forget about him eventually.
After mulling it over, Ethan didn’t message Nathan right away. He messaged Four Marriages to Understand Life first.
“What do you think of Mr. Foster now?”
Stella was working on a math problem when the message came through.
Her mind involuntarily flashed back to last night’s dream, and her cheeks turned yellow with embarrassment.
She immediately sent back a voice message.
“What do you mean what do I think? He’s my sworn enemy!”
As far as she was concerned, that dream had something to do with Ethan too.

He’d been the one who kept telling her to pay attention to Nathan’s good points.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have looked twice at the guy, let alone dream about defiling him like that!
Ethan sighed when he heard the message. Stella was still way too into Lucas. She was completely blind to someone as exceptional as Mr. Foster.
He gently touched the rosary on his right wrist and asked again, “Do you hate him?”
Stella frowned at the question.
Hate? Definitely not.
Back in school, the two of them had battled it out for top of the class, but that had always been healthy competition.
She had never said anything bad about Nathan behind his back.
Maybe he hadn’t liked her in the past, but he probably didn’t anymore.
These past
few weeks of living under the same roof had been pretty decent.
Whatever grudge they’d had had faded over

Past eleven years.
Her slender, pale fingers tapped out a reply: “I don’t hate him.”
That was all Ethan needed to hear.
He had no intention of telling Stella that Nathan probably liked her.
She didn’t like Nathan, and she had no choice but to stay in that villa. Telling her now would -only add pressure.
And if Mr. Foster hadn’t confessed, then he must have his own reasons.
Considering Nathan’s status and the fact that he was also one of Ethan’s investors, Ethan carefully composed a WhatsApp message:
“Mr. Foster, our company has a team dinner tonight. I, my assistant, and the secretaries will all be attending. I was wondering if you’d be willing to give my sister a ride home on your way back? She’s in Room 1004 at Harmony Hospital. You don’t need to bring anything for the patient.”
The phone on Nathan’s desk chimed.

He glanced away from his computer screen and picked it up.
After reading Ethan’s message, the refined and striking man frowned slightly.
A company dinner–and Ethan wanted him to pick up Stella?
It wasn’t hard to see what Ethan was trying to do.
The excuse about the team dinner was a bit flimsy.
What kind of CEO couldn’t get out of a company dinner?

And Ethan clearly cared a lot about his sister. That much was obvious from several things.
He always wore that black rosary.
He’d been willing to trade ten billion worth of real estate for that worthless old villa.
So what’s going on today?
What happened?
And even if Ethan really couldn’t go–wasn’t Lucas already at the hospital?
Couldn’t Lucas just take her back himself?
Why did Ethan want him to pick up Stella?
Nathan tapped the back of his phone twice with his finger, his deep, unreadable gaze resting on the last line of the message.
“You don’t need to bring anything for the patient.”
That line said it all.
If he went, he couldn’t just wait downstairs. He’d have to bring something and go up to the
room.
And the gift wasn’t the point. The point was stepping into that room.
Ethan had even written the exact room number.
The afternoon sun streamed through the large floor–to–ceiling windows, casting golden light across the man’s tall, elegant frame.

His clear–jointed fingers adjusted his glasses as a trace of confusion lingered in his eyes.
He couldn’t bring himself to say no to the request.
If anything, he was eager for more chances to see Stella. Every minute and second with her was something he welcomed.
