“Stella, don’t be like this. I know you’ve come back. I skipped two days of filming just to look for you, I
Stop right there. You skipping work just means you’re irresponsible and unprofessional. That has nothing to do with me.”
Siella cut him off.
Nancy couldn’t help smiling, her dimples showing. She’d thought Stella might be touched–turns out she was as clear–headed as if she’d just taken an ice–cold shower first thing in the morning.
The slum’s entrance was busy with people coming and going
By now, several passersby had already recognized Lucas.
He was dressed to draw attention today–no sunglasses, no mask.
Many were already pulling out their phones to record him.
He didn’t look as impatient as he had the day he’d been hit by a car.
Instead, he kept his chin up, clearly wanting to show off his sharp jawline.
But Stella had no interest in trending on social media.
She grabbed Nancy and ran. “Go!”
Lucas didn’t react fast enough. By the time he blinked, Stella was already a blur disappearing down the street.
Wait–what just happened?
He didn’t bother chasing her, mostly because he couldn’t catch up anyway.
Running a hand through his hair, he headed back to his sports car.
So she was still mad and he hadn’t managed to smooth things over–no big deal.
The other goal had definitely been achieved.
Once those passerby photos made it online, his team could spin them into whatever story they wanted
He wasn’t the type to keep a squeaky–clean image to maintain his fanbase. On the contrary, his playboy persona was part of
He didn’t fear scandal.
Scandal kept him relevant
And when Nathan saw the headlines, he’d be furious.
There was no way that car accident could be written off so easily.
If he’d won Stella once, he could win her again.
Let Nathan sink into that living hell all over again.
Hack in the car, Lucas sent another message to the private investigator.
Get me Stella’s phone number
The reply came quickly: “Fifty thousand
Lucas’s brow furrowed–daylight robbery.

But he had no choice. He needed a way to contact Stella.
He’d already spent a hundred thousand tracking her down: what was another fifty?
The money was barely transferred when he got a text from his younger brother, Jackson.
“Did you go see that girl? What did you say to her? She hasn’t messaged me in two days!”
From a hidden spot. Stella and Nancy watched as Lucas’s sports car roared off.
Only then did they come out together.
She’d made it crystal clear they were done. Surely he wouldn’t come after her again.
Back in the car, Nancy fumed, “I can’t believe Lucas is such a jerk. I’m never watching another one of his movies!”
Stella leaned back in her seat, giving a bitter smile. “Take me home.”
An hour later, outside the villa-
Stella waved to Nancy, “Bye. Drive safe.
Standing at the front gate, Stella pressed the doorbell.
It was only midday; Nathan would still be at work. The butler would be home, though.

Sure enough, a moment later the butler opened the door, his eyes lighting up in delight. “This is the first time I’ve seen you back so early, Ms. Stella!”
Finally, she’d gotten to hear the butler use his trademark “first time” line.
Stella’s smile was bright. “And this is the first time I’ve seen you in the middle of the day.”
Usually she only saw him in the morning; by the time she returned at night, he was off duty.
As she stepped into the villa’s courtyard, Stella noticed some of the staff digging in the soil.
“Are you planting flowers?”
The butler shook his head. “Not flowers–fruit trees. The master said apple and pear trees are perfect to plant this time of
yeur”
Stella arched a brow. “Your master and I really do have similar tastes. I love planting fruit trees in the yard too, though I’ve never had much success”
The butler chuckled. “That’s quite the coincidence.”
But inwardly, he thought, Why does the master have so many of the same interests as you? So hard to figure out
His master was outstanding and handsome–yet Ms. Stella didn’t seem to like him.
He couldn’t imagine what kind of man she did like
“You must be Ms. Stella, right? Are you hungry? I can have lunch ready right away.”
As she stepped into the living room, a middle–aged man in a chef’s hat greeted her from the kitchen doorway with a smile.
Stella’s eyes lit up. “You’re the villa’s chef?”
She’d been staying here for over a week, and this was the first time she’d seen the elusive new father who’d recently had a baby
