Chapter 65 Higher Standards
“Got it. I won’t answer calls from unknown numbers.“
She was just about to close WhatsApp when another friend request popped up.
Stella was speechless. What was Lucas’s problem now?
Hadn’t she made it clear enough by ignoring all his friend requests?
This time, the note read: “Can we meet? I know you
u want to see me too!”
Meet my ass!

Who gave him the confidence to think she wanted to see him?
Stella chose to ignore it again, though Nathan’s words from dinner popped into her head.
“Stella, you shouldn’t set your standards too low
She hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but now it hit right between the eyes.
Her standards really had been a little low
Why had she agreed to Lucas’s confession back then?
The more she thought about him now, the more average he seemed.
Yes, she’d have to raise her standards when it came to boyfriends in the future.
After playing on her phone for a bit, drowsiness crept in.
Before falling asleep, she realized she’d found another good point about Nathan–he was modest.
Soon, her breathing grew steady as she drifted off to sleep, completely unaware that her door had cracked open just slightly, and in the dark, a pair of damp, sticky eyes were staring at her with obsessive focus.
Monday morning.
When Stella woke up, the saw a WhatsApp message from Ethan.
“I have to make an urgent business trip today. There’s a problem in Southville, and Tina has to go with me. How about you don’t go to see Louis today? Wait for me to come back and we’ll go together”
Stretching her limbs under the covers, her fair fingers typed back: “It’s fine, I’ll go to Trinity High and check. Leave Louis to me–you just worry about your trip.”
“No, really, don’t worry.”
At the airport, Ethan read her messages and twisted the black rosary on his right wrist with his left hand.
“Alright, but call me right away if anything happens. I’ve arranged for a secretary to pick you up.”
Louis might be more important than work, but in terms of urgency, Southville couldn’t wait
After washing up, Stella went downstairs and, as always, found the handsome man busy in the kitchen.
Sometimes she thought it was uncanny–every morning when she came down, breakfast was in progress, not yet finished. and within minutes of her arrival, she’d be eating something fresh and hot.
Today’s breakfast was chicken soup dumplings, the familiar flavor blossoming on her tongue.

Chapter 65 Higher Standards:
She almost wanted to ask Nathan how his cooking tasted exactly like the chef’s back at Lucas’s house.
But that would be far too forward–and she didn’t want to bring Lucas up anyway.
After breakfast, Stella got into Ethan’s secretary’s car.
The girl was young, with dimples when she smiled, sweet as sugar.
“Good morning, Stella! I’m Nancy
Stella smiled back. “Morning. I’m Stella Trinity High, please.”

Lucas had been trying to track Stella’s movements.
He had first contacted the paparazzi in Ashford–people who could dig into anything.
Since Stella and Ethan had once trended together, he figured they’d be aware of her.
But the moment they heard her name, every one of them refused the job, no matter how much money he offered.
Lucas guessed immediately whose doing that was.
It wasn’t hard to see who Nathan was protecting her from.
That pervert with power and money was terrifying,
With no other choice, Lucas paid a private investigator a hefty fee. He had to know where Stella was.
By mid–morning, the message came in
“Stella is at Ashford Trinity High.”
The school was a bit of a drive from Nathan’s villa.
By the time Lucas arrived, the second class of the day had already started.
Trinity High, as always, didn’t stop cars from coming in. Nancy drove straight through the gates without issue.
Even during class, there were still students wandering leisurely around campus..
Stella found a student and asked for directions to Class Six.
When she reached the door, she looked in through the window.
Inside, heads of every color filled the room. Some students were sleeping, some whispering, hardly anyone paying attention
to the teacher.
She scanned the room but didn’t spot Louis- -or the blond–haired boy.
Could the little brat have skipped class?
Fery possible.
But with a lesson in progress, she couldn’t just walk in to ask, so she waited outside.
Nancy handed her a bag of bear–shaped cookies.
