Chapter 59 The Missing Piece
Chapter 59 The Missing Piece
He really was a dumb kid. After finally seeing him, how could Stella and Ethan ever give up on finding him again?
Stella hadn’t even eaten lunch.
On the way back, she spotted a taco stand,
They parked, and she went inside to order a plate.
After just one bite, she frowned and muttered. This tastes so bland., Nathan’s were way better.”
Yep—Nathan had made tacos for her before. They were incredible.
Ethan had already eaten lunch.
But now it was evening, so he ordered a plate too, just like hers.
He picked one up and took a bite. “Not bad. Tastes fine to me.”
Stella shook her head. “That’s because you’ve never had Nathan’s. He’s the real deal.”
Ethan’s mouth twitched. “Like I can just get him to make it for me?”
What was he supposed to do–barge into Mr. Foster’s villa in the morning and demand, Give me a plate too?
Of course not.
Then it hit him.
Shit. Her taste buds have been spoiled by Mr. Foster

Even if she eventually got over her insomnia and moved out of his villa, she’d probably never enjoy food the same way again.
“Okay then–why don’t you ask Mr. Foster when he’s free so I can learn from him? That way, whenever you’re craving that taste, I can make it for you!
He could spare an hour a day if needed–it would all depend on the man’s schedule. And clearly, Nathan was way busier than
he was
Stella liked the idea. “Sounds good. I’ll ask him when we get back. That’s thoughtful of you–your reward is a salted egg yolk.”
Ethan, cold and ruthless in front of outsiders, bit into the egg yolk Stella didn’t like. “Thanks,”
By the time Tina called back, it was already dark.
“Sir, Jimmy’s got a bad reputation at Trinity High. The teachers all have a hard time with him. And he has a mother with mental illness.”
That matched what Stella had found out
Ethan rolled the black rosary on his right wrist. “Did you get his address?”
Tina replied, “Yes. He lives in one of the roughest urban villages in Ashford–basically a slum. I suggest you don’t go there at night. Wait until morning”
There was no rush tonight, so they took Tina’s advice.
Jimmy would have to go to school tomorrow anyway. They could grab him there, then go visit his home together.
They stopped by Ethan’s office for a while. By the time they got back to the villa, it was around nine.
Not too late. Stella sent Nathan a WhatsApp asking him to open the door.

Two minutes passed. No reply.
She tried calling him on WhatsApp, but no one picked up.
Stella frowned. “Where is Nathan?”
Habit really was a terrifying thing.

Usually, whenever she messaged him at the villa gate, Nathan replied instantly and came out right away to open the door.
This time, the silence felt oddly out of place.
“The villa lights aren’t even on. Maybe Mr. Foster’s not home, Ethan said beside her.
That was when Stella finally looked up at the house.
The huge villa sat there, completely dark. No lights, no signs of life–just a silent beast looming in the night.
She hadn’t even thought to check. It was instinct–she’d assumed there was someone home.
Scratching her nose, she muttered, “I forgot Nathan’s a busy guy too. He was supposed to watch the game with me at Ashford High, but he had to leave early for work.”
That was when Ethan realized he’d gotten used to it too–used to Mr. Foster always coming out to greet Stella when he dropped her off.
She had told him before that the maids left at eight sharp, so it had never seemed weird that Nathan came to the door
himself.
“Let’s wait a bit. He’s probably in a meeting and has his phone on silent.”
After all, Mr. Foster wasn’t like him. He wasn’t some love–sick idiot who’d keep his phone unmuted during meetings just for a girl.
Not that he even liked Stella, anyway.
Ethan opened the passenger side door, rosary glinting on his wrist. “Get in. Might as well wait in the car.
Stella turned around. “I should’ve asked for a spare key ages ago. I’ve been bothering him every day and didn’t even realize it.”
The first time she left the villa, Nathan had told her to just message him when she got back
She’d completely forgotten that roommates should have their own keys too.
But before she even reached the car, the villa’s porch lights suddenly turned on, illuminating the path before her.
Her phone buzzed.
It was a message from Nathan.
