Lucas looked up, his eyes cold as he stared at him. “That’s Stella. Don’t flatter yourself. She only talked to you because she wanted to get my attention. I’m a celebrity now–she probably feels inferior.”
Jackson had already been pissed about losing the game. Now he was livid.
You’re the one flattering yourself!”
Lucas ignored him. He pulled out his phone and added the WhatsApp contact Jackson had sent.
A minute passed. No response.
He added her again, this time with a note: Lucas.
Jackson tore off his headband, crushed it into a ball, and tossed it into the trash, “Calm down, will you? That first love of yours has been dead for years. And it’s not like you don’t have women. Why are you chasing this one?”
It was surreal, sure–but Lucas was convinced it was Stella.
Nathan was the dead giveaway.
Still, there was no point explaining that to his brother. “You’re the one who needs to calm down. Delete that WhatsApp contact. Don’t reach out to her again.”
Stella definitely still had feelings for him.
Why else would she suddenly get close to Jackson?
Meanwhile, Stella’s phone lit up with a new friend request. She didn’t even look.
She was too busy looking for Louis.
He’d said he was going to the bathroom–but he hadn’t come back.
At first, she thought maybe he just couldn’t find it in this unfamiliar place.
But forty minutes had passed, and she couldn’t sit still any longer.
She got up and headed toward the exit.
“Miss!” the store clerk called out.
Stella turned around. “Yes?”
my
The clerk held out a sticky note. “The black–haired guy who came in with you asked me to give you this when you left.”
Stella’s heart dropped. Her fingers crushed her milk tea cup as she took the note with her free hand.
The handwriting was wild, but a little childish too.
“I’m really, really happy you came back. I’ve dreamed about this so many times, and now it’s come true. I’m already satisfied. Please don’t look for me. Fin doing just fine on my own. Forget about Louis.”
Her pale fingers stiffened around the note.
Ashadow crossed her beautiful face.
it hat is that brat thinking?
No wonder he got rid of the blond kid first.
From how he acted, it was clear he cared about her. So why didn’t he want to come home with her?

Was it because of Ethan?
Had something happened between the two of them after her death–something irreconcilable?
Ethan hadn’t said anything about that.
With the idea forming in her head. Stella pulled out her phone and messaged Ethan.
“Bad news. Louis really ran off!”
Some things were better discussed face–to–face.
Thirty minutes later, Ethan showed up at the entrance of the Once Upon a Time milk tea shop.
He strode inside with long, purposeful strides.
Having graduated from Ashford High himself, the area still felt familiar
“Can I get you anything?” the young woman at the counter asked brightly.
Dressed in a sharp black suit, Ethan gave off a chilly aura.
“One iced jasmine milk green. Thirty percent sugar.”
The cashier glanced at him a few times, then spotted the black rosary on his wrist. Her eyes lit up.
No way… That’s Ethan Foster in the flesh!
Today was seriously her lucky day. First Mr. Foster, the legendary billionaire, now standing right here ordering milk tea!
It wasn’t a busy time, so Ethan got his drink quickly.
The cold cup calmed his fraying nerves.
He spotted Stella in the farthest corner of the shop.
He walked over and sat down. “What happened?”
Stella had already finished her drink. She casually took Ethan’s and sipped from it. “Go buy yourself another.”
Ethan unbuttoned his suit jacket with his long, defined fingers. “It was for you anyway. What do you mean Louis ran off?”
Now that they’d seen him in person, knew he was at Trinity High, even had his name, Stella wasn’t in a rush anymore.
“No idea. Everything was fine, and I told him we’d have dinner with you tonight. Then he disappeared. Did you
She didn’t want to accuse Ethan, but she couldn’t think of another reason for Louis’s behavior.
do something
Ethan immediately shook his head, fast as a spinning top. “No! I swear. I’ve treated Xavier and Louis both really well. I tried to take care of them the way you used to take care of us…
But as he said it, his brow furrowed. A flicker of guilt passed through his eyes
