Chapter 52 The One Behind It All
Chapter 52 The One Behind It All
He had arrived early–plenty of time before the game even started.
But then that mess on the road happened, and on top of that, some lunatic insisted on taking him to the hospital.
Suddenly, his brows furrowed.

How convenient that someone just happened to hit him. How convenient that person turned out to be his fan. And even more convenient that they were so overly responsible.
But in the end, that person had walked away without even offering him a ride.
A suspicion took shape in his mind.
Nathan
Just Just now, the security guard had said Nathan was also here at Ashford High School today.
Was this his doing?
It had to be.
This was a man whose obsession with Stella had reached disturbing levels.
Back then, he would’ve never dared pull something like this.
But things had changed. Time had passed..
Nathan was no longer that pitiful little loser who let him break his leg before a game, who drank pepper water without a word of protest.
He’d founded a tech company while at Roosevelt College, secured a massive round of funding.
Once his company grew, he quickly reinvented himself as an investor.
With his intelligence and keen observation, he had become one of the most powerful capitalists in Ashford.
It was the one reality he hated facing the most.
That despicable, lowlife freak had actually made a comeback.
He hated it.
There had been a time when he was genuinely afraid.
Afraid Nathan would come for revenge. Afraid the Brooks family would be dragged down with him.
But Nathan hadn’t.
Just like the rumors said, he acted like some saint–kind and generous, a big–time philanthropist.
He was also some kind of devout spiritual person. Even donated money to build a church in Ashford.
His whole principle was about compassion and letting go of hatred. And it looked like he’d really done it
They’d run into each other over the years
Nathan never greeted him warmly–just looked right through him like he didn’t exist.
And honestly, that was a best–case scenario. At least he wasn’t seeking revenge.
The Brooks family now was no match for him. Thankfully, he’d become a “good person”

But what happened today proved it–Nathan was just pretending.
The moment something involved Stella, he went right back to being that shameless, psychotic freak.
What the hell had Stella done in a past life to deserve being targeted by someone like him?
The memory of the violent crash came rushing back. A chill crept up Lucas’s spine.
If Nathan wanted to, that accident could’ve killed him today.

Good thing this was a society governed by law. Nathan had status and power now–he had to worry about his image
So he didn’t kill him. Just hit him to delay him.
Lucas took a deep breath, his brows knitting together again. But something still didn’t sit right.
What exactly was Nathan worried about? The law? His reputation? Or maybe… maybe how Stella would see him if she found
out?
Lucas had never met anyone more twisted and dark than Nathan. But his weakness was obvious.
The student he’d asked for directions hadn’t moved in a while.
Another nearby student glanced at him a few times.
Then her eyes lit up in recognition. “Wait… are you Lucas?”
Still lost in thought, Lucas responded automatically, “Yeah.”
The student gasped, thrilled. “Ahhh! Lucas! I’m a huge fan–can I get your autograph?”
By the time Lucas realized what was happening, a crowd of students had already begun gathering.
His head buzzed with noise. His frustration reached a boiling point.
He had come alone–no bodyguards, no assistants. He couldn’t handle this by himself.
All he wanted was to see Stella. To confirm with his own eyes that she was really alive.
But the game was over The crowd was huge. How was he supposed to find her now?
Was she with her brother?
His mind was a mess. He had zero patience left for fan interaction.
With a snap decision, he turned and bolted. “That’s not me! You’ve got the wrong guy!”
Which, of course, only made things worse.
These were high school students in their prime–obsessed with celebrities and full of energy. There was no way they’d let lum get away.
Before long, a full–on chase broke out across Ashford High School.
It ended with Lucas’s defeat–someone had ripped off his mask.
“It’s you! Lucas! Why’d you run? We’re not gonna eat you!”
A male student ran up and hugged him tightly
Lucas had officially developed a hatred for male fans. No sense of boundaries whatsoever,
He shut his eyes briefly and forced a bitter smile. “Let me go. I’m here for something private. I don’t want to cause a scene, Please, just go back.”
