Jimmy wiped the sweat from his face, lifted his head, and gave Jackson a cold, cutting look. “Trash like you isn’t worthy of knowing my name.”
With that, he turned and led his teammates off the court.
They trailed behind him, laughing and cheering.
He grabbed a bottle of water, tilted his head back, and downed it in one go. The cool, confident motion caught the attention of several Ashford High girls, their eyes following him until he disappeared from view.
Jackson clenched his jaw so hard it felt like his teeth might crack. Jimmy, I’ll remember you
He was so wound up he didn’t even have the heart to go talk to that beautiful girl he’d spotted in the stands.
Until he looked up–and saw her jogging toward the center of the court.
Her high ponytail swayed with each step, the sleek are of it almost mesmerizing. For a second, Jackson’s heart skipped.
Then the humiliation crashed back in. He ducked his head and bolted, moving so fast it looked like he had a fire at his heels
Too embarrassing. This was the most humiliating moment of my life.
Ashford’s other players exchanged puzzled looks. “Captain?”
But when they spotted Stella, they traded knowing glances instead, their eyes full of gossip.
“So that’s the girl from another school who’s been into Jackson? I’d heard she was gorgeous, but wow–I take it back. I underestimated her.”
“Man, she came all this way to watch him, and what did she get? A complete disaster.”
They, too, beat a retreat, cheeks flushed and heads down in shame.
Jackson didn’t stop until he’d reached the shade of a big tree, panting hard.
He’d never had feelings for any girl before, but this one.. she was stunning. And there was something familiar about her that he couldn’t quite place
She messaged him on WhatsApp every day. At first, he’d answered indifferently, but over time, he found himself looking forward to iL
She never sent more than one message a day, never pushed. That kind of respect for boundaries made him like her even more–it was nothing like the clingy, desperate girls who hounded him and distracted him from his studies.
Now, catching his breath, he realized he’d left his phone back in the locker room.
He wondered if his brother had shown up yet.
He thought about going back for it, but the risk of running into her again made him hesitate.
Better to leave it for now.
Still, one thing was certain–he wasn’t going to let this “Jimmy” slide
The hired car couldn’t drive onto school grounds, so Lucas had to get out at the gate.
Without a mask or hat, he felt exposed, keeping his head slightly lowered as he walked.
He’d barely reached the entrance when the security guard stopped him.

“Sorry, outsiders need to register before coming in.”
Mr. Morgan, the gate guard, was nothing if not conscientious.
Lucas looked up.
“It’s me.”
Morgan squinted, then recognized him, though his tone didn’t warm much.
“Oh. Big movie star Lucas. Still gotta sign in.”

In the Ashford High Class of 2014, two names stood out–Nathan, the billionaire tycoon, and Lucas, the heartthrob actor with
millions of fans.
Lucas was impatient. “You know me, so why bother? I’m in a hurry.”
Morgan shook his head. “No can do. If something happens, I’m responsible. Honestly, I’d suggest you don’t come in today. It’s Sunday, sure, but with the basketball game, there are a lot of students and visitors around. With your fanbase, you could
cause a scene.”
Lucas held out his hand. “Then give me a mask.”
Morgan frowned, but eventually pulled one from the drawer and passed it over. “What’s the rush? Funny day–Mr. Foster was
here too.
The mention of that name made Lucas pause.
“Nathan was here?” His voice dropped, eyes narrowing.
Morgan realized he might have said too much. Instead of answering, he warned, “Don’t cause a disturbance inside, or I won’t let you in next time.”
Even the biggest star in the country couldn’t be allowed to disrupt the students‘ safety.
Lucas scribbled his name on the register and then sprinted through the gates.
If the photo he’d seen could be a fake, if the possibility of mistaken identity still existed–Nathan being here all but erased that doubt.
If Stella was around, Nathan wouldn’t be far behind. That obsessive maniac never let her out of his sight.
Lucas’s breathing quickened–not just from running, but from the rush of hope and fear.
Stella’s alivet She’d count back!
He had to see her with his own eyes today.
Morgan watched him tear off like a man being chased by wild dogs, bewildered.
Then a thought struck him. A name from the Class of 2014 surfaced in his mind, liging up perfectly with the girl he’d seen that morning in Nathan’s passenger seat.
