Chapter 37 A Gift for Nathan
Tina was surprised. Twitter’s this efficient today?”
“The trending posts are gone, Mr. Foster, Ryan reported over the phone to Nathan..
Dressed in a crisp white shirt, Nathan sat on the green sofa, loosening his tie with one hand, his expression dark.
“Mm. How long were those trending?”
Ryan didn’t know, so he quickly messaged the Twitter staff.
A few seconds later, he replied, “About half an hour.”
He really didn’t get it. What was his boss doing–trying to be Ethan’s moma

Not only was he constantly investing in him, but now he was even getting his trending scandals deleted. Why not just transfer jall
all his assets over to Ethan while he was at it?
Nathan’s brow furrowed, the darkness in his eyes deepening behind the lenses of his glasses. His palm pressed so hard into the sofa cushion that it sank.
Half an hour… would Lucas have seen it?
Last time, with that blurry side profile, Lucas might not have recognized her.
But this time, with a clear, full–face shot, unless Lucas had amnesia, he would recognize her instantly.
And if he did, he would come looking for Stella–he definitely would.
True, Stella had already gone to Ashford High School to find Jackson, and Jackson might have told Lucas after recognizing
her.
But the fact that Lucas hadn’t shown up yet meant he hadn’t believed it.
Even though Lucas would inevitably learn Stella was alive, Nathan wanted that day to come later much later.
The veins on his neck stood out, and his voice dropped to an icy low. “Contact the paparazzi at Ashford. From now on, no one is to photograph the girl next to Ethan.”
The coldness seemed to seep through the line, and Ryan felt a chill down his spine. “Okay, okay–wait, the girl next to
Etban?TM
Wasn’t this about Ethant
A dangerous edge flashed across Nathan’s expression, his tone freezing. “Did I not make myself clear? I mean that girl–no photos I don’t care about anyone else.”
His boss rarely spoke like this. Nathan had never once used his wealth or power to pressure others–he was always known for his charity work
Ryan’s heart skipped, and he replied seriously. “Understood. Mr. Foster. I got it.”
After hanging up. Ryan frowned.
The good news: his buss hadn’t deleted the trendding posts for Ethan’s sake.
The bad news: he had done it for Ethan’s girlfriend.
The sky was falling–was this billionaire planning
to be the other man?
So that’s why his boss’s look that day had been so off
Ryan sighed. Well, not las problem–just another day as a lowly employee.

When Stella returned to the villa, she called for Nathan to open the door as usual.
Ethan stood in the doorway, both hands full of bags.
Stella carried a small item in her hand.
When Nathan opened the gate, a pretty gift bag was suddenly held our toward him.
“Nathan, this is for you!”
Her bright, sweet voice, paired with those glimmering peach blossom eyes, lit up like spring sunlight breaking through the clouds.
It was like a gentle spring rain soaking into his heart.
The simmering anger from earlier over the trending posts instantly vanished.
He even froze for a second, his hand lifting before he quickly dropped it again, afraid he’d misheard. “Hm?”
thank you
Stella pressed the gift into his still–bandaged hand. “A little something for you! To apologize for last night, and to thank you for not only renting me a place but also letting me eat with you.”
The weight in his palm made him realize he hadn’t imagined it–she really had given him a gift.
His heart pounded uncontrollably, his hand trembling slightly as he held it.
Sparkle had given him a gift. She had actually given him a gift.
Excitement and joy intertwined in his eyes, making his deep black gaze take on an almost bewitching glint.
Ethan stepped forward politely. “Mr. Foster, it’s just a small token from my sister. She knows you have everything, so she took her time choosing this. It’s nothing big, but we hope you’ll like it.”
Took her time choosing….
Nathan’s scalp tingled with pleasure, his breath coming quicker, forgetting to hide his emotions. “I like it!”
Ethan was momentarily startled–he hadn’t expected Nathan to be so direct.
“I told you he’d like it Stella shot Ethan a proud look.
While picking it out, Ethan had insisted on something expensive, given Nathan’s status.
But Stella saw it differently.
It wasn’t that she was unwilling to spend money–it was that there was nothing expensive Nathan couldn’t buy himself. What mattered was the thought behind it..
