Chapter 35 The Apology Gift
Chapter 35 The Apology Gift
Every day, Nathan came up with something new–Stella never had to worry about getting tired of his cooking.

The butler had figured out by now that Ms. Stella lacked neither money nor love–her younger brother was wealthy and cared for her deeply.
There wasn’t much his employer could do for her.
“In that case, let me help you, Stella said, glancing at Nathan’s hand.
She had no idea how he’d managed to shower last night without hurting it. Speaking of showers….
She gave her head a little shake, brushing the sinful thought away.
“No need. The butler can help. You wait outside, Nathan replied, slicing carrots into fine strips.
His cool, pale fingers looked even more striking against the bright orange.
Stella’s willpower was soft as ever. “Alright… so, what’s for breakfast?”
By now, she’d gotten used to the chef always being “busy” in the mornings.
She’d quietly asked the butler what the chef was so busy with.
The answer? The chef’s wife had just given birth, and he was helping her with feedings in the mornings.
Stella thought Nathan was quite humane as a boss–giving a man paternity leave and easing the new mother’s burden.
“Pizza today,” Nathan answered in his warm voice.
Her eyes lit up. “No way you can make that too? I’m in awe!”
Just a few days ago, she’d watched a pizza–making video. She’d never thought she’d get to eat it this soon.
Hot, fragrant pizza appeared on the table, and one bite nearly made her swoon.
“You are, in my heart, the second to none!” she said with total sincerity.
Nathan’s eyes darkened instantly, his brows faintly drawing together. “Really
She grinned. “What do you think?”
That morning. Ethan came to pick her up again.
He rarely used a driver unless traveling far–he preferred driving himself.
These days, he didn’t bring her breakfast anymore, there was no need.
Sometimes he marveled at how down–to–earth Mr. Foster’s habits were, so different from the untouchable image he projected.
It was Saturday, so Ethan didn’t have to work.
“Want to go somewhere?” he asked, sunlight catching the black rosary on his wrist.
“Let’s go shopping. I want to buy Nathan a gift, Stella said, fastening her seatbelt.
Ethan’s expression shifted. “For who? Then he smiled faintly. “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for Mr. Foster”
She shot him a look. “You think I’m as love–brained as you? I accidentally hurt him last night.”
“What?” Ethan’s brows knitted sharply. “He didn’t get angry, did he?

Chapter 35 The Apology Gift
Nathan was gentle, but anyone capable of great success had a certain coldness at their core.

As long as their interests weren’t touched, they could be warm. But once they were, they could turn on you instantly.
Like with the house–forcing him to move would waste his time adjusting to a new place, so he’d refused outright.
“He’s got a great temper, didn’t get mad, Stella said.
“But it was my fault. I need to give him a proper apology. And I’ve been freeloading off him all this time—it’s not right to take that for granted.”
She’d already decided on a small gift to show her gratitude.
Relationships were about mutual respect–if that was true even for family, all the more so for strangers.
Ethan relaxed. “Alright then. What happened exactly?”
She explained the scene from last night.
Ethan was a little surprised. “I thought you just went to your room after getting back to the villa and that Mr. Foster stayed in his study. I didn’t expect the two of you to be sitting together on the sofa.”
She didn’t think it strange. “People relax at home however they like. That sofa I bought is super comfortable. Nathan’s not stupid.”
Who would work in the office all day, then come home and work in the study all night!
At a red light, Ethan eased on the brakes and touched the rosary on his wrist. “True. Louis used to love napping on that sofa.”
That model had been discontinued–otherwise, Ethan would’ve bought one for his own home too.
