Chapter 21 The Showdown
“So you’re the one who kept Ethan from coming to me?”
This wasn’t Hannah’s first time at Starlight Group.
Ethan had brought her here before, and even registered her face in the system.
That gave her access to the CEO’s private VIP elevator.
She and her assistant walked into the lobby, and the receptionist recognized her right away..
The receptionist gave a small frown. “Ms. Hannah, what brings you here today!”
Hannah picked up on the odd tone immediately.
She was a big star. Normally, regular folks like this receptionist would be starstruck around her.
But today? Something was off
That woman must be bribed the staff already!
Hannah marched over with a cold expression. “Is Mr. Ethan in the building?”
The receptionist blinked. “He should be.”

Hannah lowered her sunglasses and gave her a look. I’m guessing I’m not the only woman who came to see Mr. Ethan today!
News about the CEO’s sister handing out two million in bonuses had already spread like wildfire through the entire company.
Sure, lower–level staff wouldn’t see much of that money, but hey–free cash is free cash.
Everyone was buzzing about it in the group chats.
There were vivid retellings of what went down, too.
The CEO’s sister had snatched his bracelet, called him out for thinking with the wrong head, and taken his seat–while he just stood there and said nothing.
That made one thing clear: the sister did not approve of Hannah.
Which meant Hannah and the sister were on opposite sides.
And let’s be honest–between a stranger and the woman who handed out bonuses and wanted the best for the company?
If you worked here, who would you side with?
Exactly. The one and only Sister.
Now, a face–off was brewing. Things were about to get messy. And while it was definitely dramatic, it wasn’t exactly what the receptionist had hoped to see.
She was a woman too—she could tell Hannah was a master manipulator.
She was worried the sister might not be able to handle her.
So she frowned.
As for whether another woman had come to see Ethan, that wasn’t a question she particularly wanted to answer.
After a pause, she said, “Ms. Hannah, maybe it’s best if you came back another day?”
Hannah’s face went dark. “Who do you think you are? You think you can tell me to leave?”

She shot the receptionist a glare, shoved her sunglasses back up, and stormed off toward the CEO’s private elevator in her heels.
The receptionist had only dared to offer a verbal suggestion–she wasn’t about to physically stop her.
She was just a low–level employee. Both Hannah and the sister were way out of her league.
All she could do was send a message in the company’s gossip group chat.
No managers were in that chat. Everyone used nicknames. It was pure chaos and drama..
Reception: “Something’s up–looks like Hannals found out Ethan didn’t go to see her, so she came to the office! Sister in danger!”
The group exploded.
the Sock. “Work break‘ I’m off to protect Sister!”
Warm Bellies: “Bathroom break! I’m going to protect Sister!”
Grassy Plains: “Makeout break! I’m going to protect Sister!”
the Sock: “What the hell? Who’s making out during work hours? I got my eye on you!”
Punching Bag: “Focus, people. Any updates from the front lines? Where’s Hannah now?”
Reception: “She’s already in the CEO’s elevator!”
Crippled Avenger: “It’s over. Nothing we can do now!
Richlad: “Right? None of us peasants can even access that floor!”
Grassy Plains: “Tell Tina! Tina can stop her!”
Reception: just saw Tina leave!
Butthurt: “Send a message–make up a family emergency–get her back NOW!
The receptionist quickly fired off a WhatsApp to Tina
Reception: Tina, Hannah’s here. She went to the CEO’s office.”
Tina was in her car on the way to the nearest mall to buy gold.
As soon as she saw the message, she made a hard U–turn.
Everyone at Starlight Group was now gripped by the same fear.
Hannah was here in person. If she started crying or pouting, would the CEO stay rational?
People always said a man would trade a kingdom for beauty.
If some men would give up their empires for a woman, what was one sister in comparison?
That’s the power of a rumormill
And that’s exactly what Tina was worried about too.
Even if the odds were low, she didn’t feel safe leaving Stella alone.
She wasn’t going to let anyone bully her.
With that thought, her hands tightened around the steering wheel, and her foot hit the gas a little harder.
