Chapter 19 The Woman Who Dared
Chapter 19 The Woman Who Dared
The place wasn’t far from Starlight Group–twenty minutes at most by car.
Maybe there’s traffic?
Suspicious, Hannah sent Ethan another WhatsApp message.
“Ethan, are you stuck in traffic?”
Ten minutes passed. No reply.
Hannah frowned and fired off another message.
“Ethan, are you coming or not?”
Another ten minutes. Still nothing.
Her brow furrowed so tightly it could crush a fly.
What the hell is going on?
He said he’d come and then just disappeared?
Does Ethan have zero sense of responsibility?
Her assistant stood beside her, holding a mini fan aimed at her face. Noticing her expression, she asked, “What’s wrong? Is Ethan not coming?”
Hannah was so mad she nearly threw her phone. “He ghosted me. Not answering any of my messages!”
The assistant looked shocked. “Seriously? He’s blowing off an opportunity like this?”
Hannah narrowed her eyes. “I think some woman has his phone. She’s keeping him from replying–and keeping him from coming here.”
The assistant asked, “Who? Is there some other woman around him?”
Hannah’s knuckles turned white as she gripped her phone. “It’s that woman we saw last time. He said she was his sister, but come on, who buys that? More like his lover. That vixen’s definitely up to no good.”
The assistant looked outraged too. “Ugh, Ethan’s such a jerk! But forget it. You don’t even like him that much. Isn’t that actor Gu always sending you messages? You only got close to Ethan to get under Gu’s skin. Well, mission accomplished”
Hannah gritted her teeth. “Forget it? Hell no. Ethan was mine from the beginning. If some tramp thinks she can steal him from me, she’s dead wrong. I won’t let her get away with it”
The assistant started to catch on.
Hannah was pissed
She had everything–looks, talent, status–and a guy had the nerve to ditch her for someone else? That bruised her ego. “But we don’t even know who she is. What do we do?”
Hannah lowered her eyes and thought for a moment. “At this time of day. Ethan’s usually at work. If he didn’t leave the office, that woman’s probably there too. If we go to the company, we’ll definitely find her.”
The assistant looked uneasy. “But Ethan’s there too. If we show up like that, won’t that woman run straight to him and tattle? Who knows who he’ll side with.”
Hannah snorted. “Did you forget what I do for a living? And don’t forget, I was with Ethan first. She’s the other woman. She krows it too–she’s the one who should be feeling guilty.”

Want nodded. “That kind of woman definitely already slept with him. But she’s no match for you–fare or tater
The
We’ve got the upper hand.”
They drove off toward Starlight Group.
On the way, Hannah looked at the wound on her leg. It wasn’t nearly dramatic enough, so she touched it up with some makeup.
Meanwhile, in the CEO’s office at Starlight Group….
“Have some tea
Ethan had taken out his best Longjing and brewed a cup for Stella. The fragrance filled the room.
Stella ignored him completely, lounging in the boss’s chair and scrolling on her phone.
The black bracelet lay discarded on the desk, glinting in the light.
Ethan wanted to pick it up and put it on, but didn’t dare.
He’d gotten that bracelet from the church Nathan helped build in Ashford.
Back then, he had just taken over a company on the brink of collapse. Problems were coming at him nonstop. The pressure was suffocating.
Nathan was already well–known in Ashford at the time. People knew he’d donated money to build a church, and lots of CEOs had gone to make their own donations..
Ethan took a day off to go there too, hoping to find some peace of mind.
He’d spent a long time praying in front of Jesus that day.
When he finally looked up, the head priest was standing right in front of him.
The priest pressed his palms together. “What is it you seek, my child?”
Ethan mimicked the gesture, answering honestly. “I pray that God blesses my sister, and that she finds peace and happiness
in the next world”
Yes–despite everything weighing on him, that was the only thing he asked God for
Because God belonged to that world too. He could get things done more easily
The priest asked, “Your sister is no longer among the living?”
Just hearing the words made Ethan’s eyes go red. “Yeah.. she died in a car crash.”
The priest nodded. “My child, I believe fate has brought us together. I have a bracelet here. If your heart is truly sincere, I can consecrate it for you and give it to you as a blessing. It will protect your sister.”
