Chapter 10 Nothing is Impossible
Chapter 10 Nothing is Impossible
Stella figured that revealing a bit of her own secret might help build trust.
After all, something this bizarre wasn’t exactly believable to most people.
That gave her the chance to prove it–like how she still looked the same, or remembered all kinds of things from high school.
If she could help Nathan recall their school days, maybe he’d soften up.
She didn’t expect him to go completely off script and say, “I believe you.”
Now she was starting to think her old rival was doing this just to mess with her.
Stella smiled and kept going. That’s why this house means so much to me. I was literally living here the day before yesterday Can’t you sell it to me, just for old time’s sake!”
The handsome man turned to look at her with the same warm and polished expression. “No.”
This guy was made of stone.
To be fair, “old time’s sake” was a bit of a stretch. Rivals like them never really had any sentiment between them.
Stella was officially out of moves. She pulled out her final weapon: she clasped her hands together and rubbed them like a begging cartoon character. “Please, I’m begging you, Mr. Foster! You gorgeous, amazing man!”
They’d both always been proud people. Stella had never imagined she’d one day have to bow her head to Nathan..
But here she was.
The beautiful girl’s big, pleading peach blossom eyes were impossible to ignore. The way she clasped her hands was too cute. for anyone to resist.
Nathan’s heart skipped a beat. His palm, resting on the couch, pressed deeper into the cushion. His head was just about to nod when he forced it back under control and shook it instead.
If he agreed to sell, he’d lose any excuse to see her again.
Stella flopped back onto the couch and punched the air. “Guess that’s a no for me.”
Ethan had to fight back a laugh, but it wasn’t really the time.
Plus, his sister’s problem still wasn’t solved.
He fiddled with the black bracelet on his wrist and cleared his throat. “Sis!”
This wasn’t their own house. Time to keep up appearances.
Stella sat up straight, fixed her hair, and took a deep breath. “Okay. Nathan, how about this–can I rent a room from you? Just the bedroom I used to live in.”
She’d make do for now, then go see a doctor about her insomnia.
It’d been eleven years. Surely medicine had improved by now.
Nathan’s brow lifted slightly. He pushed his glasses up with one finger to hide the flicker of excitement in his eyes. “Rent a
rbom?”
Ethan’s eyes lit up. He actually thought that might work.
If Stella were rooming with some random guy, he’d
he’d worry,
But Nathan was ninety percent likely to be gay. That worked out great.

Honestly, he’d never seen his sister beg anyone like this before.
If she ever begged him that way, he’d hand over his life without question.
But Nathan still didn’t budge. No reaction at all. Fake man.

“Mr. Nathan,” Ethan offered, “I’ll talk to the neighbors and buy the villa next door. That way my sister can stay here during the day, and until that goes through, I’ll come pick her up every morning. She’ll only be sleeping here at night. She won’t get in your way.”
Nathan didn’t immediately refuse, so Stella jumped in. “Exactly! I won’t bother you at all, you can rest easy. If you ever bring a girlfriend home, just say I’m your housekeeper.”
Get in his way?
He would love that.
Nathan looked up. The darkness in his gaze vanished, his voice unreadable. “Fine.”
The butler looked like he’d just seen a ghost.
He wouldn’t sell the house, but he’d rent it?
Wasn’t he famously obsessive about cleanliness?
He didn’t even let the staff live here. They all had their own places.
The moment Nathan agreed, Stella jumped up with a cheer, flashing a glimpse of her pale waist.
“Awesome! It’s settled then. Talk to my brother about the rent–I’m going upstairs to sleep!”
Her head was spinning. If she didn’t lie down now, she’d probably collapse right there.
Before either of them could say a word, the girl took off, long legs striding up the stairs, her hair bouncing in soft arcs behind
her.
A light, sweet scent lingered in the air.
Nathan took a deep, slow breath–quietly, so no one would notice.
The butler stepped forward. “Mr. Nathan, should I go up and show her to the guest room?”
Nathan waved him off. “Go on with your work. She knows this place better than you.”
She’d lived here for eighteen years.
Now the massive living room only had Ethan and Nathan left.
Ethan swallowed, picked up the water the butler had poured earlier, took a sip, and finally spoke. “Mr. Nathan, thank you for agreeing to rent us the room. Ten thousand a month–is that okay?”
Nathan stayed calm. He adjusted his glasses with a single finger and smiled. “Ethan, right? That’s too much. Just enough to show goodwill is fine. You running your company well is worth more than ten thousand to me“
Ethan blinked. Then scratched his nose with the hand wearing the bracelet. “You’re absolutely right, Mr. Nathan.”
Smart men didn’t need things spelled out.
Nathan was obviously hinting at something.
Sounded like all the recent scandals had really made waves–Nathan knew all about them.
Investors always kept a close eye on the companies they backed. How else could they decide whether to increase or cut funding next quarter?

Ethan suddenly felt like a student caught slacking off in class. His head nearly dropped to his chest.
The air got quiet
Nathan’s voice remained gentle. “If you don’t have anything else, you should head back.”

Ethan looked up, forcing himself to meet Nathan’s eyes. “Mr. Nathan, my sister’s staying here–I’m counting on you to look out for her. Maybe you were just being polite earlier when you said you believed her, but she really did… travel through time.”
Saying something that absurd to a man like Nathan, with his calm, high–ranking demeanor, was hard. His sister had guts.
Nathan’s long, elegant fingers lifted his teacup. His eyes flickered slightly.
He actually did believe her.
Because there was no other explanation for why Stella hadn’t changed at all. Not even a split end in her hair had changed.
“Nothing is impossible, Nathan said with a quiet laugh.
Of course a man at the top could accept the unimaginable. Ethan smiled too–then remembered something.
“There’s one more thing I’d like to ask you
Nathan looked at him. “What is it?”
Ethan hesitated. “Before my sister time–traveled, she was dating Lucas–you know, that actor who’s gotten popular lately. She still has feelings for him, even if she doesn’t realize it. So if you happen to watch TV, could I ask you not to watch anything with Lucas in it?”
He knew a big shot like Nathan probably didn’t watch much TV, but it was worth mentioning–just to prevent Stella from seeing something that would upset her.
Nathan’s expression darkened almost instantly. The hand holding the teacup went pale, veins bulging beneath the skin.
He lowered his gaze. When he looked up again, his expression was calm and composed.
“Got it,” he said.
