Chapter 6
Asher then realized his attitude was problematic, quickly changing his tone to explain, “Professor Johnson, I’m really worried about her, could you please tell me?”
“Besides you, I don’t know who else to ask.”
“I’ve been looking for her these past few days to the point of going crazy. I’m really desperate.”
Seeing the desolation in Asher’s eyes, the mentor simply sneered and coldly said, “Some things, I can’t disclose.”
“Your fiancée is missing, why ask me?”
“Why not ask yourself what you did to disappoint her!”
Asher’s heart tightened, grabbing the mentor’s arm, “Professor Johnson, did Cora tell you something?”
“She’s gone, she’s moved everything away, and only left me this agreement. If you know anything about her whereabouts, please tell me? I’m really worried!”
“I just need to know where she is, you don’t have to tell me anything else.”
Asher’s anxious voice echoed down the hallway, attracting attention from passersby.
The mentor shook him off, his expression even more stern, “I know exactly what kind of person Cora is. I won’t break my promise to her!”
“Now you’re worried? What were you doing before? To tell you the truth, I’m the one who sent Cora away, but I won’t tell you where!”
The mentor was determined. No matter how much Asher pleaded, he only got “no comment” in return.
Asher left the school in a daze, receiving a call from the Secretary.
“I just want to know if there’s any news about her; you don’t have to tell me anything else.”
Asher’s anxious voice filled the hallway, causing people to glance his way repeatedly.
The mentor brushed him off, his expression growing more serious. “I know exactly who Cora is. I made her a promise, and I intend to keep it.”
“Now you’re worried? Why didn’t you think of this earlier? I’ll be honest with you, it was me who sent Cora away, but I can’t tell you anything more!”
The mentor’s stance was unwavering. No matter how much Asher pleaded, the only response he received was “No comment.”
Asher left the school looking lost, when his Secretary called.
“CEO Asher, I found a surveillance video that might be related to Cora’s disappearance. It could help you.”
In the video, Daphne tied Buddy to a post and then drove into it forcefully. As she stepped out of the car, she disdainfully kicked the barely alive Buddy, sneering, “Stupid creature, I’d love to see Cora’s face when she finds out you’re dead. It’d be quite the scene.”
Watching Daphne’s face on the video, Asher’s forehead throbbed with anger. He never imagined that the usually gentle and lovely Daphne could do something so extreme.
Suddenly, he remembered the day when Llooked so sad and hopeless, and the grief overwhelmed him.
He turned off his phone screen, gritting his teeth in anger. Just as he was about to leave, Daphne came looking for him.
She reached out gently for Asher’s hand, but he didn’t respond as warmly as usual. Instead, he pushed her hand away, his expression dark and intimidating
“Daphne, did you deliberately kill Cora’s dog that day?”
Daphne instinctively denied it, “How could I?”

Daphne instinctively denied it, “How could I?”
She didn’t know what had happened, but her intuition told her that she shouldn’t admit anything. Otherwise, her image in Asher’s eyes would be completely tarnished.
Asher’s eyes were cold. “Do you dare say you didn’t bully Cora on purpose?”
Tears welled up in Daphne’s eyes as she looked at his indifferent expression. “How could I bully her? She was the one who…”
“Daphne! You really are shameless!”
Asher suddenly erupted in anger, startling Daphne into silence.
His eyes were bloodshot, fixed on Daphne with a gaze that seemed to pierce through her.
He threw the phone harshly at her feet. The shattered screen reflected her panicked face.
“See for yourself! Stop pretending to be innocent!”
Trembling, Daphne picked up the phone. Seeing her actions in the video, her face turned as pale as paper. Her legs went weak, and she nearly collapsed.
“Asher, I… I didn’t mean to. I was just too jealous of her. I love you so much. I thought if I got rid of that dog, you’d care more about me…”
Daphne sat on the ground, crying desperately, clutching Asher’s leg so tightly that her nails almost pierced his pants.
But Asher kicked her away in disgust. “You make me sick!”
“Daphne, I’ll make you pay for this!”
