The second Ashley turned, the sound of a heavy object falling suddenly rang out in front of her.
She subconsciously looked towards the source of the sound and saw Matthew
assistant looking terrified.
Meru
“Mrs. Allen?”
In the end, Ashley naturally didn’t manage to leave; the assistant firmly held her back.
“Mrs. Allen, please don’t leave, I beg you. You don’t know what Mr. Allen has been through all these years. Even if you don’t want to bring up what happened before, I still beg you, for Mr. Allen saving your life, stay and keep him company.”
Ashley let out a long sigh:“First, don’t call me Mrs. Allen, he and I aren’t even boyfriend and girlfriend.”
“Secondly, I can stay and keep him company, but once I’m sure he’s okay, I’m still leaving.”
“After all, I don’t want to have any more relations with him.”
With every word Ashley said, the assistant’s expression grew a bit more awkward.
In the end, the assistant could only compromise and agree to all of Ashley’s requests.
The two sat quietly on the chairs outside the operating room, waiting.
As Ashley lit up her phone screen for the twenty–first time to check the time, the operating room doors pushed open.
Matthew, his head wrapped in bandages, was wheeled out.
To Ashley’s surprise, Matthew was actually conscious when he was wheeled out.
His originally unfocused eyes suddenly lit up the moment he saw her.
“Ash!”
In the VIP ward, Matthew, disregarding his injuries, held Ashley tightly in his arms, his words filled with ecstasy and lingering fear.
“Thank goodness, thank goodness, you’re still alive.”
“I still thought it was my dream, I was afraid you’d be gone again after I left the operating room, thank goodness, thank goodness.”
But Ashley’s tone was exceptionally calm:“But I don’t feel lucky.”
“Ash?”
She clearly felt the large hand holding her stiffen, and she pulled his hand off, walking to the side.
“Matthew, do you know what the biggest blessing is for me? It’s to never see you again.”
“After all, no one can be retaliated against 99 times by the person they trust and love the most, and still calmly get along with them.”
Her calm words, one after another, were like ropes tied around his heart, tightening little by little, making him inexplicably gasp for breath until
he choked.
Matthew frantically rolled out of bed, ignoring his injuries.
His mind was a mess, he didn’t know how Ashley knew those things.
He had only one thought in his mind: keep her!
Matthew quickly rushed over and pulled her into his arms, his voice trembling:“Ash, Ash, listen to me explain!”
Ashley had no desire to listen to him talk here.
The dance troupe still had a performance tomorrow, so she had to go back early to rest and gather her energy.
So, Ashley directly pushed him away:“Let go of me!”
“No, I won’t!”
Matthew also shook his head frantically; he didn’t want to be let go by her again, like in his dream.

And then experience the pain of being cut into a thousand pieces again.
Seeing that a direct refusal didn’t work, Ashley changed her tone and sighed:“Matthew, I have a performance tomorrow.”
“Are you still going to make the whole group be dragged down by me, just like you ruined my competition before?”
Her words successfully made his face change, and the strength in his hand also loosened a bit.
It seemed he also remembered that incident.
That year was the first week Ashley and Matthew started dating, and it was also her first competition as the lead dancer.
Ashley had prepared for this competition for over half a year.
During that time, she constantly revised movements with the members, striving to make the dance as perfect as possible.
But the day before the competition, she was locked in her apartment by Matthew, and he even took her phone with him.
Ashley still remembers the despair and collapse of that day, and she vividly remembers the disappointed looks in her members‘ eyes.
She quietly watched his expression; his expression remained calm, but his eyes were filled with struggle and pain.
Finally, Matthew chose to let go.
