Jasmine slept for a long time. When she finally stirred, half–awake and thirsty, the room was dark.
She struggled to sit up, instinctively reaching for the nightstand. Adrian always left a glass of warm water for her at night.
It was empty.
A hollow feeling washed over Jasmine, followed by a self–deprecating chuckle. Since Rosalie’s pregnancy, Adrian’s attempts at affection had become unconvincing.
Getting up, she went downstairs. Passing the guest room, she heard Adrian’s voice, pausing instinctively.
“It was my fault Jasmine got hurt. I shouldn’t have acted so recklessly,” Rosalie sobbed.
“You’re pregnant, you

“Don’t make fun of me,” Rosalie pouted, a vulnerable expression adding to her already alluring face.
Adrian’s Adam’s apple bobbed dared not be reckless now.

“I can help you, Adrian.” With those words, Rosalie slid down, kneeling between Adrian’s legs…

Perhaps because of her head injury, she slept de only waking up late the next afternoon.
“Jasmine, I was trying to save you, but you fell too fast. I couldn’t catch you…” Adrian hurried to explain upon seeing her awake, his gaze flickering.
Jasmine looked at him, not bothering to refute his lie. She simply asked, “Where’s Rosalie?”
“Blame me. She’s clumsy. She didn’t mean to bump into you. She almost got hurt herself,” Adrian explained, defending Rosalie.
“I understand,” Jasmine said calmly, her voice even, her emotions flat.“Tomorrow is my parents‘ Day of Remembrance. Will you go with me?”
“Of course, Adrian said, relieved that she wasn’t angry, but then he looked at her again.
He felt she was different. Her eyes seemed to lack the love they once held.
Before Adrian could ask, Jasmine closed her eyes.
She was in a daze all night, seemingly asleep, unresponsive to Adrian’s attempts to speak to her.
The next day was the Day of Remembrance for Jasmine’s parents. She woke early, washed, changed into a black casual outfit, and left with Adrian.
Adrian thoughtfully prepared breakfast and the items needed for the memorial service. Seeing her pale face, he was distressed, mistaking her pallor for sadness and tried to engage her in conversation.
Jasmine was uninterested, responding minimally.
As they arrived at the cemetery, Adrian received a call. His expression became tense. He slammed on the brakes, stopping by the roadside.
Jasmine was jolted forward, her shoulder bruised by the seatbelt. She asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Jasmine, there’s an urgent matter at the company. I have to go,” Adrian said, his face grim, his

Jasmine nodded understandingly, getting out of the car. Before she could steady herself, Adrian drove off anxiously, almost pulling her down.
Watching the dust kicked up by the tires, Jasmine smiled. Adrian seemed to have forgotten his phone was connected to Bluetooth. She clearly saw the caller ID:“Rosalie“.
Rosalie was hurt and calling Adrian, crying. Adrian didn’t hesitate to leave Jasmine to see Rosalie.
But Jasmine didn’t care anymore.
She no longer loved Adrian, and even her resentment seemed to have vanished.
