Chapter 900
Luke wanted to say something. But he didn’t. He just stood there. Silent. Indecisive./
And in that moment, I understood. This was the man I had loved for years. This was the man I had sacrificed everything for. A man who was selfish. A man who was cold. A man who was utterly heartless. He was not worthy of being a father.”
I stared at him, waiting for his answer. This was his last chance. If he chose me and our child, perhaps… perhaps I would give him one more chance. But if he chose Nancy- Then I would bury every last shred of love I had for him. I would leave. I would take my child far away from this web of lies, and betrayal, never looking back.
He opened his mouth and when he spoke, “I won’t let you have this baby.”
His voice was cold. Sharp. Unforgiving. “Get rid of it. Now.“W
His words, like a dagger, plunged mercilessly into my heart. My body trembled violently. I couldn’t believe my own ears. I stared at him, my eyes filled with despair and disbelief.”
“Luke, what did you just say?“}
My voice wavered, hoarse and broken. “Say it again!”
I wanted so badly for this to be a nightmare. I wanted him to tell me he didn’t mean it. That it was all a lie. That he would choose me and our child. That he would take me into his arms and tell me everything would be okay. But he didn’t.”
His gaze was cold, devoid of even the slightest warmth.”
“I said, I won’t let you have this baby. This child must be gotten rid of.“”
“I can’t let him stand in the way of me and Nancy.“W
“Do you hear me?”
He took a step toward me, his eyes as sharp as blades.
“Lyra, stop being delusional. It’s over between us.”
“The only person I love is Nancy.”
“She is the only one worthy of being the mother of my child.“W
Each word was a hammer blow, shattering what little was left of my heart. The man I had loved for years was nothing more than a cruel, cold–blooded monster. He was willing to kill his own child for Nancy.”
“Let go of me! Let me go!“. I screamed, thrashing in their grip. But I was nothing against them. My strength was insignificant. “Lyra, stop struggling!” my father’s voice rang out, cold and merciless.
“This child cannot be kept!”
“Do as you’re told, abort the child and we’ll still be a family!”
A family? This was my so–called family. A family that would rather kill my child than go against an outsider.” “No!“, I roared with every ounce of strength left in me.”
“This is my child! No one will touch him!”
“Lyra, are you insane?!“, Nancy’s mother shrieked. “Look at yourself! Look at the disgrace you’ve become!” “You want to give birth to this bastard child and bring shame to the Quinn family?!“W
Bastard child? My child?!!
