Chapter 10%
“Get out of my way! All of you, get out of my way!“. I kicked. I punched. I fought with everything I had.”
But there were too many of them. I couldn’t break free. The doctor approached, the glint of cold, sterile instruments reflecting in my tear–filled eyes.[
Terror clawed at my throat.”
“No… don’t… please…“, I sobbed.
“I was just a pawn to you! Just a tool you all used to pave the way for Nancy!“}
“And now, you won’t even spare my child?!“}
“Are you even human?!“. My voice cracked, raw with agony.”
For a fleeting moment, guilt flickered across Luke’s face. But it vanished just as quickly, replaced by icy resolve.
“Do it,” he ordered the doctor.
“Get it over with.” His words slashed through me like a thousand knives.
My body convulsed with pain, my chest heaving with ragged breaths. Desperation gave way to something darker. Hatred. I glared at them, my blood boiling, my heart consumed by fury.”
“I hate you all.” I spat the words through gritted teeth.”
I hate every single one of you. And I swear, I will never let you live in peace.”

My voice rang through the cold, sterile operating room. Hatred blazed in my veins, burning hotter than fire. And then- A sharp pain ripped through me. My heart. My lungs. My soul. My baby. Gone.
He was gone from me forever. He never even had the chance to see the world. He was cruelly erased by these heartless people. My body felt empty. My heart even more so. I lay in the hospital bed, a hollow shell of myself, staring at the ceiling with vacant eyes.[
“Lyra, are you alright?“. Nancy’s voice rang in my ears.”
She walked in, her expression carrying a practiced look of sympathy, but her eyes gleamed with triumph. “Lyra, I’m sorry,” she said softly as she approached my bedside.
I didn’t move. I didn’t blink. I just listened, my fingers curling weakly into the sheets.
“i know you must be upset,” she continued, sighing as if she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. “But there was no other choice.“}
Her voice dripped with false kindness, with the tone of someone who believed she had already won.”
“You and Luke were never meant to be,” she went on, her voice gentle yet cruel. “This child… had he been born, he wouldn’t have been happy either. So please, don’t blame us.”
She placed a hand over her heart, her tone condescending. “We did this for your own good.”
For my own good? I turned my head, finally meeting her gaze and what I saw made my stomach turn. There wasn’t an ounce of regret or guilt in her eyes–only satisfaction. She reached into her bag and pulled out a bank card, placing it delicately on the table beside my bed.”
“Here. There’s five million dollars on this card. Consider it our compensation to you. With this, you can start over, live a good life.“. She smiled, as if she was doing me a favor, “But in return, don’t bother Luke anymore. He loves me and only me.“”
Her eyes sparkled with arrogance, as if she expected me to gratefully accept her dirty money and quietly disappear from their lives. She was too naive. With what little strength I had left, I grabbed the bank card and hurled it across the room.
“Get out!“. I hissed through clenched teeth, my voice shaking with fury.”
“Take your filthy money and get lost! Nancy, mark my words–I will never let you go! I will make you pay for this!“\
Nancy’s face turned pale. She hadn’t expected me to fight back. Her confidence wavered, but before she could speak, her mother stormed into the room.
“Lyra, don’t be ungrateful!” she screeched, her voice laced with venom. She jabbed a finger at me, her expression twisted with rage. “What do you think you are? Five million dollars is more than you deserve! And you dare to throw it away?”
She sneered. “Do you really think you can survive without our generosity? If I want to, I can make sure you never get a single cent! I can make it impossible for you to live in this city!” Her arrogance was sickening.”
“Get out!” I screamed, my throat raw. “All of you, get out!”
They left, but I knew this wasn’t over.”
