Chapter 9
Gabriel listened to her attentively while carefully observing her expression.
After she finished her words, he slowly said, “It’s not arranged.”
“What?” Adeline’s expression froze.
Her hand was immediately held by Gabriel. The warmth from his palm continuously flowed into her body and filled her heart.
“The marriage is not arranged by my family, but decided by myself.
“You may not fully understand me now, but I have a lifetime to prove to you that I will not have any regrets, let alone remorse. Everything I’ve obtained is exactly what I have always wanted.”
Adeline finished eating and was sent home by Gabriel. She was in a daze.
Adeline took a deep breath and adjusted the expression on her face. Just as she was about to reach out and open the door, she felt a warmth in her palm.
She raised her head and looked into a pair of gentle eyes.
Her gloomy heart suddenly rippled.
Before she came back, she had thought for a long time about what kind of man her fiancé would be.
She was prepared to treat him with respect and live a normal life for the rest of their lives.
But she never expected that her fiancé would turn out to be a young, sincere, passionate man like
Gabriel.
She suddenly felt a sense of guilt.
She had given her sincere and passionate love to someone else, and couldn’t reciprocate with the
same level of love and enthusiasm for Gabriel.
Gabriel seemed to have sensed her emotions. He tightened his grip on her hand and gave her a
smile.
“Go in. Don’t keep them waiting for too long.
He had pushed open the door and met the gaze of Adeline’s father in the living room.
Everyone’s eyes fell on their hands held together.
Adeline’s family breathed a sigh of relief and warmly invited them to sit down.
Gabriel looked natural and relaxed as if he had returned to his own home. He could make Adeline’s
parents laugh with just a few words. He could even have a happy chat with Adeline’s arrogant

brother Marcus.
With him around, the house was lively.
When they were about to leave, Adeline’s parents wanted to ask him to stay at their place, but he politely declined.
“Sorry, but I can’t stay here for the time being. After Adeline and I get married, I will stay at home with you every day.”
His gaze shifted past Adeline’s parents and landed on Adeline.
“Can I pick you up tomorrow morning? The city has changed a lot in recent years. I can show you
around.”
The crowd’s attention returned to Adeline. After a moment, she nodded and said, “Okay.”

In the days before the wedding, Gabriel took her to explore the city. It had been eleven years since she had a good look at the place where she had grown up.
Everything seemed so different.
In Seabrook, Julian stood in front of the mirror. He tried on one outfit after another, but he was
never satisfied.
“It has been three years, and there has been no news about her. But she must come back when her brother gets married…‘
He frowned and murmured softly.
