Chapter 7
After a full day and night of layovers and flights, Adeline finally landed in Coralport.
She was exhausted, but there was no time to rest. She quickly called her family to let them know she had arrived safely.
It was then that Marcus realized Adeline had already reached another country.
He fussed over her in his usual way, giving her a list of reminders before finally hanging up.
On her first night abroad, Adeline fell into a deep sleep, as she was too tired.
Unbeknownst to her, chaos had already erupted back home.
The two families had called off the wedding again. That very night, Julian’s grandfather had been so upset that he was hospitalized. Julian’s brother, abandoning his military duties, came to Seabrook himself to drag Julian back.
Those in the know said that Julian had always been rebellious. Agreeing to marry Evelyn had been his way of seeking revenge for the Blackwood family’s previous rejection of him.
He had left the bride alone at the wedding venue and publicly announced the annulment in front of all the guests.
This was a complete destruction of the relationship between the two families, humiliating the Blackwood family in the process.
The Blackwood family had truly been a disgrace.
Three years passed in the blink of an eye.
Adeline called her family.
“Brother, I agreed to marry the man Mom arranged for me. I’ll be home tomorrow to prepare for
the wedding.”
Her voice was carefree, with no hint of reluctance.
For families like theirs, marriage was always intertwined with business interests.
Whether in her past life or this one, her family had always been supportive of her, protecting her and never forcing her to do anything. They let her live freely, like a bird with open wings.
But she couldn’t continue being selfish and carefree forever. It was time for her to take on her
responsibilities.
Besides, this arranged marriage didn’t seem too bad.
Marcus was pleased. “I knew you’d agree. You always said you liked men who are elegant, calm,

and emotionally committed. And you hate control freak. I’ve been keeping that in mind.”
“Mom even went through the list of eligible bachelors, and she made sure to check their backgrounds. I promise you, you’ll be satisfied.”
“And let me tell you, your future husband has been thinking of you. He knows you love collecting antiques and jewelry, so he’s been looking all over the world for them. He even tried to buy something from the queen’s collection, but she wouldn’t sell!”
Marcus was teasing her about her soon–to–be husband, whom she had never met.
Adeline couldn’t help but laugh at his playful tone.
After a bit more casual conversation, Marcus promised, “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure your wedding is a grand celebration.”
Two days later.
The plane touched down.
Adeline, wearing a vintage–style skirt with delicate ruffles and a simple, elegant blouse, looked every bit the professional
Woman, her style both refined and confident.
As soon as she stepped off the plane, she spotted a tall man waving at her.
He was striking, with fair skin and bright dark eyes. His perfectly tailored suit added to his polished appearance. The way he stood there exuded an effortless charm, like a gentle breeze on a warm day.
Even passersby couldn’t help but glance his way.
Adeline’s heart skipped a beat. Could this be her soon–to–be husband, the man she had never met?
The next moment, the man’s clear voice rang out, “Hello, fiancée. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m
Gabriel Westbrook.”
Adeline hadn’t expected such an introduction.
For a moment, she was stunned, but before she could react, Gabriel took her suitcase from her
hands.
He didn’t rush off. Instead, he pulled out his cell phone, asking her to call home and let them know
she had arrived safely.
Marcus received news of Adeline’s arrival and immediately called Julian.
The phone rang twice before connecting. Julian’s voice sounded tired and raspy.
Marcus didn’t waste any time. He went straight to the point, “Hey, buddy, we have some good news. Come grab a drink with me. Are you in?”

There was a light chuckle on the other end, a lazy response.
“Alright, you finally pulled it off. When is it? I’ll be there,”
“Ten days from now, on an auspicious day,”
