Chapter 13
“Adeline, can we have a talk?”
Julian’s eyes trembled slightly, his Adam’s apple rolled, and he forcibly swallowed the blood foam
in his mouth.
There was a hint of pleading in his gaze towards Adeline.
But Adeline simply shook her head without saying a word.
“No need. Mr. Hawthorne, you’re married, and so am 1.”
She took Gabriel’s hand and was about to walk back to the hall.
Before she could even turn around, her wrist was grabbed by Julian.
“No, that’s not true. Adeline, listen to me, I didn’t marry Evelyn. The wedding was canceled.
“I know I messed up with a lot of things and hurt you before. I will make amends. I haven’t been with any other woman in these three years. Believe me.”
He explained anxiously as if he wanted to prove something.
Upon hearing these words, Adeline suddenly burst into laughter.
It was such a familiar scene it was.
Julian kept Adeline by his side for five years. It became a topic of conversation among his friends that Adeline served as a tool to prove his loyalty to another woman.
Julian employed the same trick again, but this time it was to earn that poor tool’s trust.
It was ridiculous.
Adeline suddenly thought of something. She turned around and stared into Julian’s eyes.
Her red lips parted slightly. “Whether you get married or not, it won’t affect our relationship.”
“I’m sorry. Adeline, I’m sorry…”
Only when he was boomeranged could he feel the same heart–wrenching pain she suffered back
then.
But it was too late to change anything.
Adeline did not want to waste any more time on people from the past. She shall let the bygones be bygones.
She did not stay any longer.
Chapter 13

She held Gabriel’s hand and went to the changing room.
She took off the heavy wedding dresses behind the screen and changed into a light dress.
Gabriel had his back to the screen, silent and with clenched fists as if he was restraining himself from doing something.
After hesitating for a long time, Adeline finally said, “I’m sorry, but I didn’t expect him to come. If you mind…”
What responded to her was a burning chest and a vigorous heartbeat.
She was held tightly in Gabriel’s arms and couldn’t move.
Through the thin clothing, she could feel his scorching body temperature and the breath sprinkled
on her ear.
Adeline, why do you always say silly things?
“I’ve known him for a long time. I don’t care about your past. I just feel sorry for you.
“For a long time, I hated myself for failing to grow up faster and to be with you earlier.”
Gabriel was kidnapped when he was a child. It was Adeline who protected him.
Over the years, Gabriel had been searching for him.
A year ago, Adeline’s mother wanted to find a husband for her. Gabriel immediately took his father to the Pierce’s place to recommend himself. That was why they could get married.
Adeline finally understood that what she thought was their first encounter turned out to be a
reunion.
When she was reborn and vigorously pursued Julian, a man had been quietly supporting her from behind, never disturbing her.
Gabriel buried his chin in her armpit, his fuzzy hair brushing against her cheek. They passionately
kissed.
She heard that Julian and the pregnant Evelyn hastily held a wedding.
After marriage, Julian and Evelyn lived apart in different places and each did their own thing.
As time went by, Adeline fell in love with Gabriel just like how she had loved Julian in the past.
The difference was that Gabriel always cherished her. Gabriel still stood by her side when Adeline’s hair had turned gray.
