Chapter 12
Adeline and Gabriel were about to say their oath.
Marcus hurriedly returned, with his knuckles on the back of his hand turning red. His clothes got slightly dirty, but he remained composed.
He nodded at the man on the stage, and Gabriel understood what he meant.
The emcee asked loudly, “Do you?”
Adeline and Gabriel both said, “I do.” The crowd cheered.
Everyone was happy.
Julian was stopped by bodyguards at the door, covered in injuries.
His eye sockets, forehead, and lips were all covered in bruises. There was a lot of dirt on his clothes. Blood stains were faintly seeping from his mouth.
He was pitifully and tightly held down by bodyguards, without even a chance to witness Adeline’s
wedding with his own eyes.
He had never been so embarrassed before.
Julian was used to being the boss, used to making decisions without hesitation, and used to having -control over everything. He believed that he could obtain everything he wanted through his own
efforts.
But he misunderstood Adeline’s feelings for him.
He had thought that as long as Adeline came back, they would have a chance to reconcile.
But she got married to another man right in front of him.
He couldn’t even manage to go in and take a look.
Regretful tears slid out of his eyes and splashed onto the soil.
He could hear buzzing in his ears.
He also heard everyone cheering.
Losing all the strength, Julian collapsed onto the ground. Even the bodyguards on both sides let go
of him.
His meticulously combed hair scattered messily in front of his forehead. His neatly trimmed nails
had dirt stuck in them.
His carefully selected suit was covered in dirt and stains.

Just at that moment, Adeline, in an elegant wedding dress, stood in front of him.
He looked at her shoes adorned with pearls.
Julian was at a loss, unsure whether to hide or look up and meet her gaze.
He never stopped thinking about her over the three years.
Adeline’s head was slightly lowered, and her eyes were still as bright as before. But there was no longer an intense emotion held for him before.
Another man stood beside her.
“How did you end up like this?”
Julian thought that Adeline was concerned about him. He struggled to get up from the ground, rubbing his hair, trying to make himself look more presentable.
But when he almost got up, he heard Adeline’s voice again. “You almost ruined my wedding.”
Her tone was filled with blame.
“Adeline…”
Julian couldn’t believe his ears. His eyes were filled with fragile confusion. His lips trembled, but he could only utter her name.
He had thought countless times about their reunion, but he never expected it to be like this.
Gabriel held Adeline’s hand and raised his chin with a somewhat arrogant expression. His gaze lightly swept over the bodyguards as he chuckled and ordered, “Anyone that arrived is our guest. Why don’t you invite Mr. Hawthorne to come in?”
It was undoubtedly an insult to Julian.
The bodyguards received the order and immediately took a step forward, ready to assist Julian inside.
But Julian forcefully shook off their hands.
“Don’t touch me.”
Adeline looked at him and frowned, feeling that the man in front of her now was completely different from the man she used to love.
Perhaps love had an expiration date.
