In my past life, I, Adeline Pierce, and my best friend, Evelyn Blackwood, both fell in love with Julian
Hawthorne.
Evelyn took advantage of Julian being drunk, seduced him, and got pregnant with his baby. She
managed to marry him.
Julian spent his entire life in sorrow, while I stayed single my entire life.
On the day I was about to die, Julian found me, knelt before me, and confessed his love.
He would die with me, asking me to wait for him in the afterlife.
It was then that I realized the one he truly loved was me.
I was brought back to the day Evelyn and I first met Julian. I was 20 again.
Without hesitation, I confessed my feelings to Julian and became his girlfriend against my family’s
opposition.
But in this life, the woman Julian was going to marry was still Evelyn.
I accompanied Julian to a business dinner. When I started to feel unwell, I decided to leave early.
However, I realized I had forgotten my bag and turned back.
Standing outside the door, I overheard their conversation. One of the men complained, “Julian, I’m not exaggerating. Adeline really has a bad temper. If she finds out you’ve been with her for five years just to prove your devotion to Evelyn, she’ll probably kill you.‘
I stood frozen outside, my blood running cold.
Was I just a tool for Julian to prove his love to Evelyn?
I took some steps back, gritting my teeth in silence.
The love I had for him was instantly gone.
I had been wrong, so terribly wrong.
I shouldn’t have carried over my feelings for Julian from my past life onto this one.
They weren’t the same person at all!
The conversation continued.

But then Julian’s familiar voice pierced my ears again, sending a shock through my body. “Break up with her? They’re both fine now, aren’t they?”
I gripped the door handle tightly, struggling to control the urge to burst in.
Through the gap in the door, I saw Evelyn straddle Julian’s lap. She flicked her hair back.
“You just know I don’t care how many women you surround yourself with, don’t you?”
With that, she grabbed Julian by the collar, forced his head back, and provocatively teased him.
“Tell me, who is better in bed? Me or Adeline?”
Julian wrapped his arms around Evelyn’s waist, laughing hoarsely, “Of course you. You’re horny, with more tricks up your sleeve. That’s why I chose you to be my wife.”
I couldn’t hold myself back any longer. With a loud crash, I shoved the door open and stormed in, slapping Julian across the face.
Fighting back tears, I said each word with a sharp, piercing tone, “Julian, you bastard!”
The room fell into dead silence.
Julian’s head snapped to the side, frozen in place.
Evelyn rushed toward me, trying to grab my hand, but I yanked it away, sending her sprawling onto
the sofa.
Without sparing them another glance, I fled.
Outside, the cold winter wind sliced through my skin, but I couldn’t feel the pain.
The only thing I could feel was the suffocating sob that seemed to choke me, making it hard to
breathe.
The regret from my past life was too deep, and I thought this time, Julian and I would never miss each other again.
But I hadn’t expected this time to be an even greater mistake.
All my efforts had been in vain. In this life, Julian still loved Evelyn, and the woman he was
marrying was still Evelyn.
I walked toward the nearby phone booth and called my cousin, who had told me about Julian’s upcoming marriage.
“You once asked me to go to Coralport to help you manage your business. I’ve made up my mind. But you can never tell Julian where I am.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll keep it a secret from that jerk. I’ll take you away in ten days, and make sure he never finds you.”
I hung up the phone calmly.
Ten days later, it would be New Year. A new year, a new beginning.
In both lives, I had been trapped in love. This time, leaving was my true rebirth.
