Rise of The Billionaire’s Runaway Bride 61

Chapter 61

Evelyn Sullivan lifted her gaze, her eyes icy as frost, piercing straight into Ethan Sullivan.

Ethan’s chest burned with fury. He’d only stepped away for a moment, and she’d already rushed to have dinner with another man. If he’d been any later, she might as well have handed him the divorce papers herself.

He strode to Evelyn’s side and sat down, his sharp glare landing on Daniel Sterling across the table.

Daniel met his gaze calmly, a faint smile on his lips. “Mr. Sullivan, Evelyn’s concerns are mine. I’ll always be here when she needs me.”

“How generous of you, Mr. Sterling,” Ethan sneered. “But I suggest you mind your own business and focus on your acting.”

“My acting skills are none of your concern.”

The tension between them crackled in the air like live wires.

Evelyn frowned, her voice cold. “Ethan, if you’re here to cause trouble, you can leave now.”

Those words ignited Ethan’s rage. “Evelyn!” he ground out. “This pretty boy is the one stirring the pot, and you’re blaming me?”

“First, Daniel is my friend. Show some respect.” Her gaze was razor-sharp. “Second, our relationship doesn’t need anyone else to ruin it. You know exactly why it’s broken.”

Ethan let out a humorless laugh and yanked Evelyn up, dragging her toward the exit.

Daniel suddenly caught her other wrist. “Mr. Sullivan, didn’t you see Evelyn almost fall?” His eyes blazed with anger. This was the man she’d given up everything for? If she were with him, he’d never let her suffer like this.

Ethan turned, his gaze like a blade on Daniel’s grip. His voice was glacial. “Let go. Unless you want to lose that hand.”

Daniel didn’t back down. “You should be the one letting go.”

Their standoff drew stares from the other diners.

A vein throbbed at Evelyn’s temple. All she’d wanted was a quiet meal, and now this. She wrenched free from both men and strode toward the elevator without looking back.

Ethan caught up to her in seconds. “Evelyn, it seems you really don’t learn.” He pulled out his phone and dialed Colin Keller. “Look into Daniel Sterling’s recent film contracts. Immediately—”

Before he could finish, Evelyn snatched the phone from his hand.

“Ethan,” she said coldly, “is threatening people all you know how to do?”

“You think this will protect him?” Ethan’s eyes darkened dangerously. “Unless you plan to shadow my every move, I have plenty of ways to erase him from the industry.”

Before she could retort, Daniel’s icy voice came from behind her. “Evelyn, don’t worry. I’d like to see just how far Mr. Sullivan’s power reaches.”

She turned and lowered her voice. “This is my problem. I won’t drag you into it.” Daniel had worked too hard to get where he was. She couldn’t let him suffer for her sake.

Daniel gave her a gentle smile. “I’m not afraid. No matter how powerful Mr. Sullivan is, he can’t control the entire world.”

Ethan scoffed. “We’ll see about that.”
