Chapter 57

“Evelyn Sullivan, you’re coming with me tonight!”

Ethan Sullivan’s voice was icy. He’d been avoiding her deliberately to give her space. Yet she had the audacity to do this behind his back.

Evelyn scoffed, her gaze dismissive. “You overestimate yourself, Mr. Sullivan.”

She turned to shut the door, but Ethan seized her wrist.

“You don’t have a choice.”

He dragged her out, only to feel a sharp pain at the back of his neck. Darkness swallowed his vision as he collapsed.

Evelyn coldly watched the unconscious man and dialed Colin Keller’s number. She yanked off her necklace and hurled it onto Ethan’s chest.

“Tell Mr. Sullivan I don’t want his trinkets.”

Half an hour later, Colin rushed over. As he helped Ethan up, he spotted the priceless diamond necklace lying discarded on the floor.

Ethan woke in the car.

“What happened?” He rubbed his sore neck, his expression dark.

Colin hesitated. “Sir, Ms. Sullivan… knocked you out.”

The air froze.

Ethan’s face turned stormy. But when Colin handed him the necklace, his pupils constricted.

“Throw it away.”

Colin quietly pocketed the necklace. It was a one-of-a-kind anniversary gift Ethan had designed himself.

Back at the villa, Ethan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his knuckles white. His own wife had knocked him out—absurd!

His phone buzzed.

Lucas Laurier’s voice was tentative. “Ethan, Alexander wants to invite you to the new Lakeside Resort…”

“Not interested.”

“Evelyn will be there.”

Ethan’s eyes sharpened. “That’s irrelevant!”

He slammed the phone down.

Lucas sighed at Alexander. “We’ll need to ask Mrs. Sullivan for help.”

In the corner, Lily White clenched her phone. She quickly texted Isabella Jackson: “Your precious sister is after Alexander again.”

Isabella replied instantly: “Don’t worry. Her time is running out.”

The screen’s glow illuminated Lily’s twisted smile.
