Chapter 50
“Isabella is not a homewrecker. There’s nothing between us!” Ethan’s voice burned with suppressed fury.
Evelyn curled her lips into a cold smile. “It doesn’t matter anymore. You’re free to be with whoever you want. And my affairs are none of your concern.”
“You know exactly what Daniel Sterling feels for you!” Ethan grabbed her wrist. “Don’t force me to ruin him.”
“What about you and Isabella?” Evelyn wrenched her hand away. “At least Daniel and I are aboveboard!”
Ethan’s gaze turned glacial. “So you truly don’t care about his career.”
Evelyn clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms. She could ignore Ethan’s threats, but she wouldn’t let Daniel suffer because of her.
“Fine.” She lifted icy eyes to meet his. “But if Isabella dares to touch him, I won’t hold back either.”
“You wouldn’t dare!” The air around Ethan dropped several degrees.
“Learned it from you.” Evelyn turned on her heel, stilettoes clicking sharply against the marble floor.
The moment she reached her bedroom, her phone rang.
“Evelyn, I need to take tomorrow off.” Sophia’s voice sounded exhausted.
“What’s wrong?” Evelyn frowned. “You never take days off.”
“I’m suing Lily White.” Sophia spat the name through gritted teeth. “She shredded Serendipity to pieces!”
Evelyn’s pupils constricted. “She actually—”
“The gown is beyond repair.” Sophia’s voice cracked. “I’m so sorry. I failed to protect the gift you gave me.”
“Don’t say that.” Evelyn softened her tone. “I’ll send you the current market price right away. This time, she’ll pay dearly.”
After hanging up, Evelyn immediately dialed Vanessa Cruz.
“What’s Serendipity’s current market value?”
“At least ten million.” Vanessa sounded surprised. “Why the sudden inquiry, boss?”
Evelyn tapped her fingers against the desk. “Send me the transaction records from the past three years.”
Once she received the file, she swiftly texted Sophia: [Demand ten million in damages.]
Then she made another call. “Fabricate a transfer record for me. Ten million, recipient MY Fashion Group account.”
The cold glow of her phone screen cast eerie shadows across her face, deepening the darkness in her eyes. Since Lily insisted on digging her own grave, Evelyn would gladly push her in.
Sirens pierced the night sky just as Lily stood before her mirror, fastening a new diamond necklace. The doorbell made her jump, sending the necklace clattering to the floor.
“Miss White, you’re under arrest for willful destruction of property. Please come with us.”
Lily’s face drained of color. With trembling hands, she dialed Alexander King. “Alex… save me…”
