Chapter 112
“Don’t listen to his nonsense,” Drew cleared his throat and replied lightly. “It was just a standard collaboration between the hospital and the lab. I only signed on behalf of the hospital.”
He turned to cast a cold glare at Charlie.
Julia slowly relaxed, but she couldn’t help glancing curiously at him.”
“Mr. Timberlake, how did you manage to erase all my records back in the
US?”
Drew, who had been casually sipping champagne, stiffened for a second. Then, in a low voice, he answered, “I asked a friend for help. A former patient.”
Julia didn’t press. She simply smiled and said, “Thank you. That helped me more than you know.”
A rare smile tugged at Drew’s lips. He looked undeniably pleased
“It’s nothing. Don’t mention it,”
Outside the window, snow–capped mountains shimmered beneath the sunlight.
Julia’s heart rate rose once again, but this time, it wasn’t from fear.
It was the anticipation of the life that awaited her.!!
As the plane cut through the clouds, Cameron glanced up, a strange tightness gripping his chest. It felt like something was slipping away, something he could never grasp again, no matter how tightly he held on.
Annoyed, he kicked an empty bottle lying in the sand.
For the past few months, he had been staying on his private island with Anne. She was supposedly recovering, though she showed no signs of getting better. Every few days, he flew back and forth for work, but her so–called ailments never changed. “Mr. Cruise, Miss Lawrence says she has a headache and asks for you.”

Her hand had healed long ago. But if it wasn’t a headache today, it was dizziness, or some stomach pain the next day !! Ever since he had pushed Julia down the stairs, Anne’s headaches had become almost clockwork, daily.
“Got it,” he muttered, irritation creeping into his voice.
The fascination he once had faded into a dull, gnawing boredom.
Lately, sleep had become rare.}
No matter how many times he turned it over in his mind, the same question haunted him.
Had he gone too far with Julia??
The way she had looked at him that day still made his chest tighten. He had never seen that kind of lifeless resolve in her eyes before.
Months had gone by, and Julia hadn’t reached out even once.
He picked up his phone, fingers hovering over the screen for a long time before finally dialing her number. 5
A robotic voice rang out coldly: “Sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer in service…”
Cameron froze mid–motion. He quickly opened other apps, but every attempt told him the same thing: he had been blocked.
Fury erupted in his chest. With a sharp motion, he hurled the phone to the floor. It bounced a few times before landing face–up, and the screen shattered into pieces.
A sneer tugged at his lips. “Fine. Very good.”
“Still throwing tantrums, huh?“%
The butler cautiously stepped forward and said, “Mr. Cruise, you haven’t been home in months. After what happened, it’s understandable that the madam is upset.”
Cameron’s gaze turned ice-cold. One look from him dropped the room’s temperature to freezing.
“You talk too much. One more word, and you’re out of the family.
The butler immediately lowered his head and fell silent.
Reminded by the butler, Cameron sighed and decided to head home and apologize to Julia.!
After all, she always forgave him once he softened his tone.8
He gave a quick order. “Notify Anne, we’re leaving today.”
On the way back, Anne watched his expression closely, then spoke in a gentle voice, “Cameron, once we return… Reese has missed so many piano lessons.”%
“Can I stay at the house to help her catch up? I can tutor her, too.“%
Cameron gave a brief nod. “Okay.”
But the moment they stepped inside, Cameron was stunned. The house was empty.
12:04 AM p p.
It had never been this cold, this lifeless. A thin layer of dust clung to the floor.
When Julia was around, the house always felt warm. No matter how late he came home, there was always hot food waiting. and the light at the entryway was always on.
“Where’s Julia? Why hasn’t she come back yet?”
