Chapter 1
The night my Alpha mate, Caius Fenric, brought his adopted sister home, everything changed.
Thalia Fenric tiptoed to our bedroom door, slowly pushing it open like she didn’t want to be caught–but very much wanted to be seen.
Her white nightgown barely clung to her shoulders, threatening to slip off at
“Caius… I’m scared to sleep alone,” she whispered.

With a helpless sigh, Caius got out of bed and told me softly, P. I’ll be right back.”
I sat alone in the dark for a long time.
Then I threw a party.

Caius came storming out of the bedroom, clearly pissed. “Out. All of you.

music shook the walls while fake laughter floated through the mansion.

And just like that, it was only the two of us in the living room.
“What the hell was that?” he snapped, his brows furrowed.
Behind him stood Thalia, still wearing that ridiculously short lace–trimmed nightgown, her long hair cascading down her shoulders, face pale and pitiful.
I leaned back on the couch, legs crossed, swirling red wine in my glass.
“You said your little sister was scared to sleep alone. I figured I’d get her some company.‘
Thalia’s face turned ghostly white. “What do you take me for?!”
”
I gave her a wicked smile, dragging out every word: “A shameless little slut who tries to seduce her own brother.”
Caius’s face darkened instantly. His voice dropped to a dangerous growl. “Zira.”
Thalia’s eyes welled up with tears, and her whole body trembled with rage. “You think you’re better than me?! Everyone knows what you used to be–a damn party girl! Trash! If it weren’t for the mating pact between our packs, Caius would never have married someone like you!”
“Thalia, that’s enough!”
She froze. Tears slipped down her cheeks as she gasped, “You’re yelling at me? For her? Did you not hear what she just called me?! Fine. I’ll leave. I’ll go!”
The girl spun toward the door, dramatic and teary–eyed, her too–short nightgown clinging desperately to her frame.
Caius frowned, scooped her up without a word, and carried her back to her room.
Only then did he return to me.
“Go to bed.”
I stayed where I was, giving him a cold, sharp smile.
His voice, usually low and rich like a cello, now held an edge of exhaustion. “Zira… I’m tired. Can we not do this right now?”
“You heard what your sister said.”
“She’s young. She didn’t mean it. I’ll apologize for her.”
I laughed bitterly, mouth twisting into something that wasn’t quite a smile. “She wasn’t wrong. Our families are a perfect match- two powerful packs joining through a political mating bond. But me? I’m just the wild party girl. Always surrounded by men. Especially the hot ones.”
Calus’s expression iced over, second by second.
Suddenly, he grabbed me, pushed me down on the couch, and kissed me–hard, like punishment.
“Zira,” he murmured hoarsely, lips brushing my skin, “Need me to remind you? You’re my Luna now.”
I laughed, but my eyes stung. My voice cracked, trembling with buried fury.
“Don’t act like you forgot. Who was it dragging me out of bars over and over again? Who kept chasing me, claiming to be my fated mate? Who wouldn’t give up until you marked me?”

He pulled me into his arms, his scent wrapping around me in an intoxicating cloud of Alpha dominance.
I used to forgive him for everything the moment I was in his arms- -because of the mate bond. His scent was like a drug.
But not anymore.

“Caius, it’s either her or me. She leaves–tomorrow.”
The next morning.
Thalia was at the breakfast table, beaming in his shirt.
“Morning, Zira!” she chirped.
I froze. Like someone had dropped my heart in ice water and left it there to sink.
