Chapter 14
Sebastian stood there like he’d just been struck by lightning–face ashen, eyes wide with devastation.
“My family means more to me than my own life,” I said calmly.
“And I, Helena Whitmore, would only ever bear a child for the person I truly love. That was the vow I held above all else in a marriage.”
We both remembered that vow.
And he knew–back when we were young, when I said those words to him, I had truly meant them.
But years of miscommunication, his cowardice, and his arrogance had torn that vow apart.
There was no going back
He opened his mouth, voice trembling with desperate hope.
“You really… won’t come back to me?”
I lifted my head and met his gaze–steady, calm, final.
“Leave. And don’t come back.”
Whether love or hate, he was no longer part of my life. After Sebastian left, I turned and pinched Andreas’s porcelain cheek, leaning in until I was nose to nose with those sly emerald eyes.
“You little fox. You let him in on purpose, didn’t you? And you told him I was pregnant?”
The idea of someone like Sebastian casually waltzing into a mafia heir’s private castle was laughable at best.
Andreas crouched down and gently pressed his cheek into my palm, his lashes fluttering like butterfly wings against my skin.
“That guy clearly had bad intentions…” he mumbled, almost pouting. “I was just worried.”
I knew.
Andreas had always known about my past with Sebastian–he just chose not to interfere.
Out of respect.
But I also knew he was afraid.
Afraid that somewhere in my heart, I still had room for someone else.
So he let the wolf through the gate–just once. And gave him a quiet, lethal warning
From the moment I arrived in Italy, he’d been doing everything he could to make me feel safe.
But truthfully, he was the one who felt insecure.
I cupped his face and leaned in, brushing a kiss over his lips.
My voice softened as I gazed into those sparkling green eyes.
“You don’t have to worry anymore,” I said. “Andreas, I love you now. And I mean every word.”
For a second, those emerald eyes froze in stunned disbelief.
And then, like a stone crashing into a still lake, joy erupted–fierce and radiant, rippling through every corner of his face.
“Really?” he gasped, voice pitching up with excitement.
Before 1 could even nod, he scooped me up into his arms, spinning on his heel and dashing back into the castle like a man possessed.
“Then let’s have a baby! Right now. Immediately!”

100.00%
my
chest ached.
The sudden weightlessness, combined with that childlike declaration, made me laugh uncontrollably.
Bathed in late–afternoon sunlight, staring into those wild, love–filled eyes, I laughed until
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I whispered against his ear:
“Okay.”
